I attended a hammer in at Randy Haas's house and we were forging some damascus. I decided i wanted to make a sujihiki,(Japanese meat slicing knife) and got cracking on it. Cleaned up profile
Laying in bevels
Selecting handle materials.
Rough layout of the handle. This was a huge PITA! There are quite a few hidden pins, and the back of the frame interlocks with the buttcap assembly.
Mock up before shaping the handle
Mostly finished product. I will add, copper and musk ok horn together are the biggest pita ever. Copper get's real hot, real fast. Musk ox horn burns easily lol. So it took about a week to finish grind the handle. But here it is
The metal frame and spacers are also damascus, and are now etched. Need to install the copper corbies. I will update when i get a few final touches finished
