Summary of my recent Spyderco problem.

Sounds like I'm a little late to this party but I object to the portrayal of a griptilian being "much" better in quality than a caly jr. I've handled a grip and I edc a caly jr, that should tell you something right off the bat. I like the cutting dynamics of the caly, I like the smaller size, etc etc etc. I've never felt like a calypso was an inferior product to any bm, especially the entry level axis lock. In 440c

PROS:
Small - fits in my hand nicely (and I have large hands).
Opens and closes smoothly with just the right amount of effort.
Really Really Sharp out of the box.
Good price at $35.

CONS:
After further review...I don't have any cons!

All in all it's a good knife. I've compared it side by side to the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian that boxer93 lent me and I have to say that I prefer the Spyderco. The Min-Grip feels more solid but that may just be due to the stainless liners. The Calypso Jr. has no liner.

I don't think you can go wrong with this knife. If they come out with a new color or a different handle material I will buy another
Wow - this a 180 degree turnaround if ever I've seen one.

After discussing this issue and subsequent results with my wife, Gail, she said. tell them the Oklahoma woman story".

after some thought, I decided her wisdom was strong.

While working in Oklahome in 1975 (Oklahoma State Fair), an old woman gave us some advice. She said,

"No one wants to look the fool, everyone does the best they can. If they knew better, they'd do better".

We are pleased that, for the most part, the visitors to "the Spyderco house" are pleasant, intelligent and civilized.

About FoM, i have read a lot of posts of FoM. This guy doesn't seem to be a troll, i just think he is in a way overstressed period in his life, and work. He has had some good moments and some bad moments. I think that you are an honest guy without evil intentions, but as a Christian try to relax a bit. Search in yourself wether the knives are really the problem, or that there is an underliying problem you have . You have posted that you have had some work related problems, and maybe even personal problems (who doens't in his lifetime). I guess that the knives that have in your opinion defects (i haven't seen them) are not the real problem here, just the last drop that makes you sit behind your pc and write the stress off. This seems to work for you. But it also affects Spyderco as a firm. I suggest that you sell the knives on Ebay, get a refund, and buy another Spyderco (Manix). Then i would suggest you try to get some relaxation therapy or even meditate. I am a Buddhist myself, and although it is not a religion, it CAN be a good way to control the frustrations everyone gets in his daily life out of his system.

FoM, get rid of the blades, sell them on Ebay, throw them away, or even better, donate them to the kitchen of your church, you did a good deed by it, and your church will apreciate those two knives that might have a minor defect but still can be used well in the kitchen, during churchmeeting etc. Then buy a new Spyderco, go to a knifestore and compare and inspect the knives yourself. Buy what pleases you even if it's a Benchmade :p (Joke), but try to get the frustration about those two knives out of your system. The fact that you worry so much about the knives could cause your personal health WAY MORE TROUBLE the knives are worth.
Please for YOUR own sake, donate the knives to a good cause (Boyscouts, Girlscouts, your church, Salvation Army) and get them out of your system. Then please try to find a way to work onyour daily stress.

God bless you.

I will burn some smoke for you tonight, don't be offended, i hope it will give you a better feeling.

You pretty much hit it right on.

I have posted another thread just to apologize for this. I'm not looking to be taken back or have special treatment. I'm just sorry.

Thanks,

David, that's great that Yojimbo-Girl is being nice to you and everything, And I have no personal anomosity toward you either. But something's really wrong here.

You've said you're sorry. Okay, that's nice too. But what I really hope is that you don't show up in a week or two, or for that matter six months from now, pulling the same cr*p.

I think for your own good you need to take a good long time-out from knife forums, and spend it working out whatever is going so wrong with your life. Your forum activity is getting you nowwhere and you're causing damage along the way. You've impugned the reputation of a fine company and its owner. That's not a trivial matter.

I hope you get things straightened out.
