Just a few thoughts about possible get togethers. Always nice to have future thoughts about fun in the sun to help us get through the cold months:thumbup:

There are nice hotels around the Glen, besides the campground. I was thinking that since we burn bundles of hard wood at the campsites, the campground would be a good place to chop stuff;)

All fun suggestions welcome.

Well... The Boys really like the outdoors, and they have really enjoyed the camping we have done in the past... last trip was Vermont 2 Summers ago... We are really wanting to go this coming summer!!
I guess we can all keep tossing out ideas and suggestions for a destination...and as far as we are concerned, the more families the better!!

The more ideas the better:thumbup:
We have a few great parks near Lake Erie that have great beaches too.

IMO the planning and idea part of get togethers are a part of the fun:)

Rat,
Did you get to see the Picture Of Nightshade?? If Ya did .. Do you REALLY think we could leave a face like THAT @ Home....
We take the Bearded Dragon, and the Conure with us. The Bird sits on the shoulder of one of us... or hangs out in her smaller cage... Nightshade has a hammock that I attach to the front windshield of the truck He loves the Sun and enjoys being with us ..... We used to take the turtle.. when I didn't know how to chase fish... Now he can feed himself... And the rest of the animals are watched when we are gone.

We'd LOVE to have ya

Blessed Be

I'm just kinda worried about what the other campers there will think about a group of us nuts hanging around with such large evil looking knives. I think we're gonna need to work things out a bit here....cuz I'm not forkin' over my khuk's to Law enforcement. We might need to notify someone and/or camp in a state forest or something. Any Ideas?

Are single 20-somethings with dogs welcome?
Of course! anybody who wants to come is welcome to. I admire your dedication in wanting to make such a long trip. you could concievably be here within 18 hrs if you drive straight thru. Last time i drove to Florida from here it took me roughly 18-24 hrs... but i was dead tired when i got there and the only times i stopped were for restroom, eats and a quick stop to check out south of the border.

That's the beauty of camping at the parks, you often need at least a hatchet to cut wood, I've never had problems with khuks or machetes to do camp work:D

Also Keep Note that while we have just 2 acres , it is prepped for tents, all year, all the time so if there are any long riders you have crash space here AND we are butted up against a State forest so woods and privacy are AOK.
We are tree people, not lawn.

I remember those days, Karda:), I drove my rocket sled, from Buffalo to Lauderdale in 21 hours once. When I mention this people are incredulous and rarely believe me, unless you know me:cool::D:eek:, it was in my 1968 Mustang Fastback with a 390cid GT and I'll be darned if I EVER remember the speedometer under 95mph... and I was immortal, the car bulletproof, gas cheap and there was a very nice looking lady in the passenger seat!:p:D:thumbup:

Erie? Cool! Our Troop is camping there next weekend at the Coast Guard station. Hope the date works out.

I guess the other way to do things is to see who all wants to join us then pick a place that would be a midway point.

We were to have a meet up years ago for some of us couples who met online.... sadly we got left out of the loop since most of the people going were from the west & Midwest states so thay had the gathering in Texas.... WAY to far for us to drive and too expensive to fly 4 people (Never mind that I DOUBT they'd let the Beardie Fly)

So maybe if we can get an Idea about who would want to do this... maybe we could find a place that EVERYONE who wants to come can join us.

We also will have to work around if my youngest (who has a different style of learning) has to go to school through the summer again. If he does... That pretty much messes up July& first 2 weeks of except for Weekends. Though... If he is doing well I doubt they'd mind so long as I kept up with schooling while we were away.

BUT we have time!! Heck if my HS class could plan a whole 10 yr class reunion in 6 months we can plan a simple gathering.

Anyone else intrested???

Darn, Danny, I was gonna swear you'd vote for Colorado.

Colorado is halfway between some point in the Pacific and someplace else closer to everyone else.:p
;):D

Maybe we could hold something in Utah or Colorado for us in the Western US? I'm planning a campout in the Mountains around Central Utah this summer. It will be in the National forest and not only will there be Khukuris but there will also be guns and 'hawks. If anyone has Google Earth, check out North Tent Mountain in Central Utah. There's a little valley to the south thats awesome!! I plan to watch the sun set from the west ridge of the valley at night and wake up early in the morning so I can hike up North Tent to see the sun ride from the Peak.

I'd also be up to going somewhere else for a Get Together. Something out west is preferable to me. I'd see about going to Idaho or Colorado.

The only thing I might have to do on our end is limit the drive .... We go to MI to see my Sis.... and by the time we got there I had to spend 1 day flat on my back waiting for the neck to calm down... thats about 670miles ONE WAY... ALSO,I don't want to spend 2 days driving out... spend 1 day camping, just to turn around and drive 2 days back.....
So for Ed and I ... I think as far west as we could go would be MI and south of there.

It will all work out.....

There are many swell meetings out west we have had to miss:(
AND realistically, while there will hopefully be many Kuhk-togethere's this year, we most likely will only get to the close ones:)

From Lake erie to Watkins and a bit beyond we'll get with some of you fine folks:)

Mark and Holly:)

Mark & Holly,
You sound JUST like Ed & I, as MUCH as we love to travel, We will be in the same boat...
It's not like it was years ago (pre-kids) that one could just block off 2 weeks and travel at will. And we won't even know till about April or May if the school will want Jake to continue his schooling into the summer (He has had summer sessions ever since he started Kindergarten) (but that can be worked around to a point)

Where there is a will and a want there is a WAY!

The Get To Gether out east sounds cool. My post wasn't to take away from that but more to see if we could also plan something out west.

Maybe I should start a Western KHuk Get to gether thread.....
