Summer of One, a traditional edc challenge

Hard to beat a Stockman for every day carry. Great blade variety.

Then again it's hard to beat a good strong two-blade Trapper.

Nothing wrong with a good, solid, single blade either.

However, I just don't want to commit to a single traditional knife for a season. The only thing certain with me is that I carry the same, modern, one-hand, opener in my right front pocket every day year round and a Leatherman Juice C2 in a sheath on my belt every day year round but what goes into my left front pocket traditional wise changes frequently more to do with my mood than my need.

Been my go to, so I guess I'll keep it going.

What's Option 3... I must have missed that? I'm watching this thread! hehe

Whats option 3 you ask? Well to open a poll thread and let you all decide which one I use all summer. Not having the final say would sure make my summer knife a lesson in adapting.

Well I tried to be bold and put it to a vote but bladeforums would not let me. Oh well, made up my mind and summer knife is in bound. Pics on Saturday :)

Went with the 79 single spring. I love the 79 I have its just so beefy I don't like to carry it unless I know I need all of it. The single spring should work out nicely for all my needs. The Dixie stock knife looks like it will be a winner and I may still pick one up to have in my arsenal later but not as my sole summer edc. I remember why I got rid of my 53, the overall size! My TK Cuban stays around because of how slim it is. I don't see myself buying pocket knives in the 4" + range anytime soon, ill go fixed blade if I need something that long.

Well my summer of one will start next week. Mix up with the dealer and i dont like the handle material I recieved.....ill just tack another week on at the end of summer :). I will carry my TK cuban which is a single spring also until the new one arrives.

I'm thinking about making 2015 the year in which I only carry #15s.

Of course, I'll probably pick up another 1/2 dozen variations on the #15 between now and then... :D

I'm probably gonna carry my purpleheart handled SAK Recruit all summer. Or until something else catches my fancy, I'm a little ADHD when it comes to knives.:D

Now that would be fun!

I thought of changing my summer of one too the summer of one (spring) knives :D

The 79 I recieved has got me itching for one to carry, it is exactly as perfect as I thought it would be. Perfect fit in my hand and the tidioute I can pinch open

My GEC radio jack has been in my pocket since the day it arrived. Already developing a nice patina. The GEC #15 frame is perfect for pocket carry. As of Saturday morning, it will ride with me for the rest of the summer.

From 1970 until 2005 I carried one of three Stockman knives every day (Buck 301 until 1989, then a 108OT and the equivalent Uncle Henry until Spring 2005). What I enjoy about being a knife collector (an avid one for the last four years) is having so many nice traditional pocketknives to choose from. I could easily get by with a vintage Schrade 34OT - but I won't! Good luck in your quest. OH
