Sunday Afternoon with Rajkumar's Ganga Ram and Jungle Knife

I got back on to research the JK spine is it 1/4 from tip to tang? if so I was gonna buy it.. at 20oz and if its like a wedge it would be an ideal camp knife, rather then that of an rtak II or Junglas..

Mine has no taper on it if this is what you're asking. It has the same spine width from stem to stern.

Mine is ever so slightly tapered, I'd say 3/8ths at the spine/handle and about 1/4th before it thins out drastically to the tip. It's basically a consistant hammered taper from spine to point, effectively and hand forged flat grind with a convex edge. The Junglas is 20 oz blade only at 10 inches so that should give you some sort of reference as far as its heft. You should be able to look at the spine shots I took in my review thread and get a good idea.

Sheath... doh! I didn't even bother checking to see if one was included... thankfully it is.

heinlein, I missed the sticky at first, the nose obscured it.

PR, big thanks for pointing this one out! After reading your comments about it just boucing off the wood I was a bit worried, but I find great pleasure in thinning out and reprofiling blades, so can't wait to get this thing onto some stones and make 'er into a chopper.

Rest easy. It took about half an hour to get her shaving sharp with no more than a chakma steel and a cheap arkansas soft stone, and after that she bites nice and deep. I don't think the grind met in the middle as it came from the factory, I think there was still a small strip of black stock in the edge and that's why it was bouncing. Now gravity alone will take a nice inch and a half deep bite out of dry cottonwood.

Thanks Ugly Duck! This is my second kurk, a fair bit heavier then 43oz. Dui Cherria. I'll be giving it a good workout at our property in Summerland.
