Sunday Chop Chop - MOAB, 1311, FBM & ASHBM

Nice video, Thanks Rob.
All Awesome knives, and good to see that price to performance ratio shining from the 1311.;)

Don't have a MOAB, but definitely need to get the 1311 back out into the woods.

Great chop video. Makes me really regret not getting in on the 1311. I already had the B11 and a KzII when they came out, so I was a Le to contain my self. At the price point, I should have jumped, and sold a pocket knife or two that gets no use.

Hey Rob... very nice video, as always....
Thanks to it now I want a MOAB more than ever.

Is the 1311 still available? Or only on secondary market?

The 1311 is only available on the secondary market, but they seem to come up quite a bit at very reasonable prices. There was one on the exchange this week, slightly used with a quality kydex sheath, that spent a couple of days at $230 before someone claimed it. That's not bad for something that comes close to the MOAB in chopping performance and would exceed it in terms of performance to weight ratio.

LOL, OK...is it just me, or did a knife at ~10% the cost of another come within about 10% of smoking this other one in a side by side chop chop? :D

To the Bossman I will say that this is very embarrassing to us BUSSE lovers being shown up by a pack of Dogs...and there is only ONE WAY to redeem the brand...

BASIC 14!!!!!!!!!! ...Please BRING IT!! ;);) :D:thumbup:

Love the MOAB, but the 1311 is one helluva wood eater for its size, weight...and price!!!

ROB, Great vid, fun to watch... Thanks for posting it! (Love the soundtrack too, brother!) :):)

Using the 1311 straight up with the MOAB and BMs feels weird as it is really light and the blade flexes a lot when it connects with the wood. It doesn't have that solid indestructible feeling that the other blades have. That said, it is an AMAZING CHOPPER for its price and everyone who loves big choppers should have one. I'm with you on this Alex - an INFI Basic 14 with 1/4" or thicker stock would be the shizen.

The chunk of wood I used for the FBM was ridiculously hard and thicker than the others so it's not really a fair comparison. That knife is a chopping monster. When my arty farty lady hand recovers, I'll try and do a direct comparison with BMs on the same thickness and kind of wood. I just did this video for fun and wasn't really trying to compare them in competition so to speak.

That piece music is called Voyage to the Sun by yours truely.

Lennox, the slomo is 240fps.

I wouldn't want a Basic 14 to be that thick... unless both options were available. I love the thinner blade on the 1311, it makes it so lightweight that it is effortless to chop with. Just have to flick your wrist and you can let the blade do the rest if you're feeling tired (or lazy!).

LOL, I was just tryin' to goad Jerry into makin' a Basic 14! ;):D:D

...Would like to see it @ .22", myself.

Bring the 14!! Thin. :-)
It's going to be competing against my 1311 and ASHBM.

Rob I suggest a beer in one hand while choping and blisters will not affect your performance. Great video though!

I've been asking for a B14 since before the 1311 arrived and will continue to do so. Suggested a golok pattern, but will jump on one in any style. That or a basic kukri. My modified B4 is just sitting around waiting for a BIG Basic to partner up with.

I´m not a big fan of the mohab for the sole reason of the exagerated clip-point, otherwise, I would have sold all my busses and gone for one a long time ago...

But that´s not what´s impressive in the video...

What really impressed me was the fact that the clear, clear, hands down, MAIN CHARACTER in this film was the MOTHER OF ALL WOLVES!!!!...God, that knife is a performer...

I have just promised miself to get one before the end of this year...

And oh yeah... and I also think a B14 will wash out the shame of all the Hogs that appeared in this movie.

Good to see you are getting some chopping practice for the next weekend (or the one after...)

Chopfest at Robs!

Can't wait,

Lawrie
