Sunday Strip Day

Good job! [emoji106]

I guess you did not removed the handle scale. Am I right? If so, how does the paint under the handle looked?

Thanks, I'm not sure how it looks under the scale, I assume it's just coated.

I m planning to strip the HUCK when I received it. Your good work made me more keen to do it now. However, I might get a pro to do it for me [emoji6] My only concern is the paint under the handle scales.

Well the advantage of a coating beneath the scales is you don't have to worry about corrosion underneath.
Stripping anything with CBT can be a pain, I'm not finished with that CGFBM, I'm going to refine the flats a bit

Me too. Luckily i have access to a bead blasting cabinet so i just have to get most of the stuff off before I put it in there. Can't wait to get that big beauty.

Cool! I look forward to your masterpiece's picture when it is done [emoji106]

It already looked very nice in the pictures. You are a perfectionist! [emoji106]

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little scared to strip the Huck. I've never spent that much on a blade before so I'm just hoping the Pitts have been evicted from the shop by then.

So for Bronze coated TTKZ and CGFBM --- is it black g10 underneath? Do you guys recommend letting the handle soak with the rest of the blade?

Check this thread out Rob, seems like a lot of people have seen tiger hide below the cerakoted models...
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1400061-Anyone-removed-Cerakote

And when I strip, I tape off the scales,, the stripper can lighten the color on G10 in my experience

Thanks for the thread reference man --- although I'm pretty sure both my CGFBM and TTKZ are g10 rather than micarta underneath --- I would love to be wrong because I actually prefer the texture of micarta. I'm assuming that it's black g10 underneath because it's the cheapest --- however with all these pics of tigerhide showing up --- I'm not so sure anymore that the cheapest material is what they're using. I'm very very curious

Took the sanding even further, I'm happy now.
If I sanded it down past the machining marks I'd have to remove quite a bit of material.

I got some new 220 belts for my Worksharp, and man, I love that piece of equipment.**You don't have the control of your angle like some other systems,, but for putting a great edge on a large blade quickly, its just great.
I followed up with a finer belt, then stropped with green compound to a mirror finish.
Cant wait to go beat on her some more!
