Sunglasses

I have a big head and face. for me Most oakleys will work, but I find the quality and clarity to be so so. also check out the Hobie "Woody" I had that pair for years and beat the crap out of them until I forgot them out fishing. I also have a few pairs of Costa del mar's that fit my big melon very nicely. If you go on Costa's website you can narrow your search by fit. I went with large fit and they work great. they even have XL fit, which would probably be huge. I find the ray bans fit ok, but are a little bit snug. also check out Julbo. I have been obsessed with their glasses since I was a kid. Very high quality mountaineering glasses that fit big faces.

If you can find an optician that stocks Maui Jims they will advise you on frame style and size, and have samples you can try on.

Maui Jim also do pretty much the best Rx prescription service. Their lens technology is great.

Serengeti gets my vote if only because they are manufactured in Japan; and if you know how to shop, these $210.00 MSRP glasses, typical street price of $135.00, are now sold at $85.00....

They come in three different lens/frame colors BTW.

I have been wearing MJ Typhoon's for 10 years - I love them, but they are discontinued now so you have to buy them used.

I like the looks of the Oakleys in harkamus's post, I think I will look into a pair of those, no pun intended...

I do a lot of cycling, and for many years coveted a pair of snazzy cycling specs. However, I also wore prescription lenses and didn't want to shell out the bucks for the models that have the prescription insert... besides which most were rather ugly.
However, science marches on an my cataracts started to act up so I got my eyes "done"... Perfect distant vision. Our department actually issues sunglasses (if you don't need a prescription...), so I now have a nice pair of Tifosi specs.
Very nice... 3 sets of lenses, nice sturdy carrying case, and a microfiber bag for the spare lenses that doubles as a cleaning cloth.

I have mj titanium wire frame and their my favorite glasses ever. So lite you don't even feel them on your face. I don't think they would fit a larger face though, their kind of small. I also have MJ tortoise shell wraps. Great glasses. Good luck.

Tommy Bahama makes some real nice shades. Pricey, but theyre polarized, lacquered all that jazz to keep the salt from ruining the frames. I've had two pair and I love them.

My only advice regardless the brand, is go for polarized lenses. Makes the world look HD

Oakley's are good but way overpriced. Anything by Luxottica will be. If you can get the LEO/military discount on Oakley then getting better value.

The best lenses are Persol, Maui Jim, or Costa. All have several large frames avail.

Even being overpriced I wore only Oakley for about 6 years, mostly the wire frames. Had a buddy let me borrow his Costas for a week. I sold all 3 Okaleys and bought Costa before the week was up. I now have two pairs of Costas and can't imagine I would ever go back to Oakley. Better product, based in USA, and same price range.

And not all polarized are equal. A $5 pair from gas station can be polarized. There are some quality differences, warranty differences, lens color difference, lens material difference, etc.

Go to a store and try some on. Make sure it is a store that you can step outside on a sunny day. Compare diff brands and compare diff lens color. I have a blue lens and green lens and I have had the charcoal before. Can get one the works mostly universal but you might have a specific need, like being on water more or being in woods more, to where one color is more beneficial.

Oakley's are excellent, but only worth the half price available to military, EMS, and law enforcement. I have the Ballistic M SI's that came with three lens, case, strap, and cleaning kit, all for $100.00. If I had to pay the normal $200.00, then I would have bought something else.

ess ice. Earbends are length adjustable and have a wire in them to adjust snugness. Lenses are swappable and Mil spec ballistic rated, 100% uv protection. Different sizes available. $30 msrp for the one lens set. I wear a 7 5/8 hat and the standard size fits perfectly. Rx lens inserts available.

I think I have decided on a pair of Maui Jim Middles. Really like the Spartan Reef but they are a little to high end. I still need to stop by a Sunglass Hut to see if they have a pair to try on. Anyone have a pair of them?

Tried on a pair of Maui Jim Stone Crushers today. They fit me better than any glasses I have ever tried on. I am ordering a pair tomorrow.

Maui Jims are the way. Good choice, I have 2 pairs of Peahi's and love them. They also have an awesome warranty and CS.

Just ordered them. Should be here in a couple days.

Got them today. All I can say is WOW! I have had polarized glasses before but they were cheap glasses so I am thinking now that they were not really polarized. The difference between these and non polarized is like the difference between 50s black and white and HD TV. What ever brand I buy in the future will be polarized.

Good choice on the Maui Jim's. I wore Oakleys for years before buying a pair of MJ Breakwalls and unless something changes with the way they create their lenses, I won't own a different brand. They are crisp, clear, lightweight and stay on my head.
