SUPER ASSASSIN KATANA

Today I am listing perhaps the apex of my blade design so far. It’s certainly one of the largest blades I’m apt to ever make. I have taken all the experience I have gleaned from the multiple evolutions of my competition cutters, field knives, and swords and poured it into this blade.

Some specs

Blade Length: 27”

OAL: 38.5”

Blade Thickness: .280”

Blade Steel: CTS PD1 hardened to RHC 60

Weight: 3lbs 12oz

The handle core on this beast is made of tero-tuf which for those that are unfamiliar is an extremely tough material that exceeds the toughness and durability of G10 and Micarta by a wide margin. The tang is pinned in place with a titanium mekugi. The core is then covered in a carbon fiber skin. Over top of this is burgundy tsunami cord wrapped in traditional Japanese tsuka-ito style. This creates and very durable and firm grip. Every transition on this blade is radiused to eliminate any stress risers. Every detail in the blade’s geometry has been optimized for raw cutting power. Bo-hi or a fuller was machined into the blade so that the proper balance between cutting ability and speed could be achieved. A high saber grind allows the blade to separate material efficiently during a cut. The tsuba, fuchi, and kashira are of course titanium with an aqua blue and gold anodizing finish. The saya is made of tero-tuf as well. With a carbon fiber skin. The koigichi and kojiri of the saya are also titanium and match the tsuba, fuchi, and kashira.
Price $7400 SOLD

WOW... I just wish I could justify this purchase to my better half... That is absolutely beautiful--this sword exudes excellence. Man, I'd love to bring that to the dojo!

Mother of all things Great and Small....that is amazing.

Good work Dr. Dan

I was fortunate to meet Dan and handle this monster at Blade....words cannot describe the feeling of raw power that this thing exudes.....amazing!

is there a benefit to a wide cutting blade as opposed to a thin one?: I notice the blade has about a 2 inch wide profile? very cool very over built!

Absolutely perfect Dan, love your swords and this is no exception.

Huge benefit...lower primary grind angle so better cutting ability. Depends how thin he took the edge, though.

OMG... that's not a katana--it's more like a lightsaber. I so want one...
