Super basic 2x42 to 2x72 conversion.

This is great ! Thanks Willie.

This is awesome because you can still run 2x42 belts. Which are cheaper, but not much variety.

Not really. For the same quality/brands, 2x72 belts are actually more cost-effective. The prices are pretty close, and they last longer. Simply because they're ... longer. ;)

But yes, with Willie's design you should be able to easily run 2x42's if you find a smokin' deal on them

That truly is dead simple. Now if I can just find just as easy way to slow this thing down! James I recall you saying you have done tons of knives on the 2X42 how many did it take until you were producing good grinds the majority of the time?

I guess that depends on whom you ask :D

I'll say this much, the last 20 required a whole lot less handwork than the first 20 did.

The distance from the back of the housing to the center of the longboard spindle is 19 7/8", if you follow the centerline of the extension.

I thought about using a smaller drive wheel, but you would need a custom bushing as the shaft on the craftsman is metric, from what I've read and drive wheels are standard. If you have the tools to make the bushing yourself, you would have built your own grinder already.

I suppose you could rig up a set of stepped pulleys to drive it and be able to slow it down, but like you say... at that point you're well on your way to just building a grinder.

I don't find the high speed to be that much of a hindrance, honestly. You just have to pay attention faster :p
