super duper 1000 post extravaganza!!!!

I have managed to find this treasure a few times off the beaten track. Peace and tranquility :)

I'm in! Thanks for the chance!

Once while hiking at Devil's Lake State Park, I found a $20 bill lying near the trail! It looked like an oddly fluttering leaf next to some grass. It covered the cost of the park sticker that I had just bought that day...proving once again that the sun does shine on a dogs a$$ once in a while! :D -Matt-

I once found a Victorinox Recruit in the park when I was a kid, but...

When I was hunting about a year ago, I found a very old fixed blade stuck in a tree. Just sitting there, rusting. I knew it was a Buck from the black phenolic handle. I took it out and cleaned it up. Sharpened the thing to hair-shaving. It was a Buck Woodsman. I was quickly able to buy a sheath for it since it's still in production.

Dude, you're on a give-away roll! Feeling alright? ;)

My best find was in the woods near a farm my uncle owned. I had been squirrel hunting there as a kid, and taken a slide/fall down a rough slope into a ravine. I lost a little clip-on boot knife during the fall! At least ten years later I was back at that same spot, not even looking for that knife, and happened upon it underneath some leaves! It was still in it's sheath, with only a thin layer of surface rust on the blade.

High on life brotha! Or is it exaust fumes:rolleyes::p??? Either way, take advantage! This thing is great, works every time. I just am thinnin things out a bit so some of my gear is gotta go, and if I had a garage sale the cops would probably think this was a crackpipe or something!

I found about 100 feet of paracord while I was riding ATV's here in the Blue Ridge Mountains about a mile from my house. I was pretty excited.

I was fishing with my grandad once at a pond on the family place. I got bored and was rooting around the banks when I found a very old rusty Kabar folding knife with horn scales. The main blade was broken, but the 2ndary blade was in OK condition. I took it over and showed my grandad. He remembered his childhood friend loosing that knife while they were out fishing once. The friend was long dead. I took it home and cleaned it up and carried it around as a boy. I still have it too.

I have an old keen kutter pocketknife my grandpa found at the lake fishing, your post reminded me of that knife fiddleback. My mom has it now, as I gave it to her to when he died for safekeeping.

cool giveaway J... congrats on 1000...:D i already have a fire piston, so i'll give someone else a shot...:o

i seem to find stuff all the time... i have found all sorts of stuff while out in the woods... a lot of fishing lures, a SAK and a few other odds and ends...

probably the best things i have found are a black diamond headlamp and a case trapper...

Nice giveaway. I have found different things over the years. i really like finding bones and skulls, and shed snakeskins the best. But my favorite, and the funniest was kind of recent. My wife and I were hiking in a pretty remote area and she spotted a cheap knockoff folder on the ground. I was gonna pick it up and look at it, but she stopped me. She got out the camera and took a pic of it. I asked what the heck she was doing, and she said it looked like something a gangbanger stabbed somebody with and was taking a pic for evidence. She was very serious about it, but I could not stop laughing!

Mighty kind of you!
I always find beautiful scenery on the trails. However I never found anything of monitary value.
When I go fishing I always find a few lures and floats more times than not.

hahahaha!!! Thats funny!:D

Excellent giveaway and congrats on the 1K post......
I found while walking on a trail in some old brush trying to find a sweet fishing spot a .22 caliber pistol, those little nickel finish w/o trigger guard that fit inside a belt buckle,I think the barrel was like 1.5"-2" long,it was loaded, musta fell out of a buckle or pocket, I played with for a few days and traded it for something cooler ,I guess ..it was 15yrs ago

I also found $20 on the trail once. I wondered how anyone dropped cash miles in on a trail. My wallet is usually stowed the entire time I'm out. Anyway, I never seem to find much else of value other than fishing lures and floats as someone else mentioned.

Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

Thanks J!

While it wasn't on a trail, I found a Wenger SI in silver alox while fishing. I was shore fishing where a breakwall was built of busted up concrete Lake St. Clair. Not between the rocks and concrete, but right out in the open.

The tip of the main blade has a slight bend to it but was like new otherwise.

That firepiston would match my Alox SI very well, dontcha think :p:D?

They wife and I went fishing one day and while we were fishing I looked down and there laid a Gerber Gator knife. I cant remember how the fishing was that day but the knife was a keeper. It was a little dirty but other then that in perfect condition.

I was climbing around next to a glacier near Seward, Alaska when I was about 12, and found a pair of Oakley sunglasses in a stream. I was pretty stoked about my find. Unfortunately, one of the legs snapped about an hour later when I got back to the car.

I found $2 yesterday though!

I was out trail running in a remote area and happened over a stack of rocks that looked odd. I kicked it over and there was a Ruger old Army under it capped and balled and ready to fire. (Also rusted) So I cleaned it up and replaced the nipples and it still fires to this day.

Congrats on 1K. I hope to be there soon.

The coolest thing I ever found was by accident. I was fishing at a local state park and found this really sweet spot where you could cast out to these logs along on the edge which you KNOW is where the fish are at. So I get down near the shore and cast out. I was overhand casting with a baitcast reel. I cast, and snagged my lure and hook in a tree I didn't even notice above me. The funny part was, there had to have been 9 or 10 other assorted bait and bobbers up there from fools who did the same thing as me. It was like a little fishing Christmas tree with all sorts of ornaments.
