I think you should replace it with a plastic knife from Mc Donald's or KFC just in case they come back looking for it. They might actually think that was a good knife!

Well you got the dogs so that's a pretty good alarm system right there. Just follow it up with a 9mm or a 357 on a easily acessable night stand and you'll sleep with peace of mind.
