Super Salyan (Now Mega Salyan)

Ray C.

I don't get on the forums everyday, as much as I would like to. A 6.5 LB 30" khukuri, thats interesting. Is it two handed or one handed and is it a Sirupati style?

I find your comments about ringing interesting. My 22" Ang Khola and Ganga Ram Special both ring when I sharpen or chop with them. The Mega Salyan does not. I guess it is too thick for it to vibrate enough for it to ring.

Definitely not Sirupati style, Will. Broad blade more like your Salyan and about a hand and a half grip, as I recall.

Hello Will
Bill is right this is no sirupati it is 3.5"s wide. The handle is 7.5" wood light in color.
When I'm worken out with it I use one hand(cause thats the point)but I have small hands and can place one hand above the ridge and the other below;works OK.
Say Bill; do you have any pics of our table at the SOF convention if so you can't miss that Khukuri it is leaning on the dragon.I have pics of gun and kife shows, with good shots of the whole table,I thought I gave you a copy if not let me know and I'll send'em up.

Ray,

Do you use 1 or 2 hand while splitting wood.

I chop with one hand and split with two hands with my 22" Ang Khola. It will be like the same with the Mega Salyan. I don't know why it works out this way.

Hey
What ever I feel like it's a free country.
Even when I excercise with one hand I can move to two.
One or two if you get what you need you got what you want.

Hello Ray!

I like you! Are you the one who made a Khukuri draw demo in the SOF Convention?

This is definitely not a knife for someone with a weak back. My back was not bothered by the limited use I put the Mega Salyan. I could tell if I was not careful I could easily twist my back.

Hello Will
You really seem to like the BIG BLADES,well me too.If you try cutting light or soft vegitation or must reach over your head to cut watch out for the elbow or wrist injury.
Make sure you don't over extened, and after the blade cuts thorugh bring you elbow down close to the body and as always don't let any part of you touch any part of it.Have fun.

Ray,

Thanks for the info. I'll try bring the elbow in close. Previously, I have just been careful to make sure that no body parts were in the way when the khukuri broke through or lost its grip.

Having seen the picture of this big bad khukuri on the scale, I would have to say that if not for the digital read out, the looks of this khukuri are very deceiving as to its weight. Also, the more I look at it, the more it grows upon me.
