• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I have a friend who is closing up his engraving business after 40 years. He has given me a lot of tools and small equipment.Yesterday he loaded an abrasive etching machine in the back of my van. It is for etching glass and things. I tore it apart and salvaged all the parts ( it wouldn't work for knives the way it was configured). The machine was very expensive ,and he said he hardly ever used it.I am going to build the mac-daddy of all blast cabinets for matt finishing and cleaning up blades. The machine had a self contained vacuum system to recover the airborne shattered grit. It is meant to suck up silicon carbide,so I'm thinking of adding a spark trap pre-filter and having a new dust collector for the Bader Blll. The blast nozzle is a quad nozzle which is "focused at 6" .The machine has a foot switch rated at 20 amps,a solenoid operated blast control, blast force fine adjustment, and 100 pounds of 100 grit silicon carbide. Max requirement 6.7ACFM at 60PSI ,min. 4.9ACFM at 40PSI. I'll build a simple etching cabinet and be in fat city. You can see the parts in the photos.
