We all know the greed that can be associated with collecting GEC. I myself have been guilty of selling for a bit more than I may have paid for a GEC years prior. We can all guess what factors have led to the GEC blow up, but I think it comes down to simple greed. Not theft and not a scam, but moves like this are just frustrating and disheartening. M mp31x listed a Michigan jack for $350 just the other day and of course, it got snatched up immediately. Several members responded to his listing. He claimed it was cross posted and sold elsewhere. Someone asked where else it was listed, no response. In all fairness, he doesn’t have to, but it would be nice to know other places these gems can be found. Now this morning, the same knife is again posted by the same seller for $480. If the first buyer didn’t work out, why not reach out to the other dozen members that inquired the first go round? I’d love to hear a clear explanation of what happened and why the price was jacked up by such a large amount. Any and all comments/questions referring to this matter were immediately deleted from his profile page. Could be a very legitimate reason. If it’s greed, just be honest. I don’t think any BF rules were broken, but it just seems like an extremely shady move.

Yea, cross posted where? I assume at least some of the guys that wanted this are also on the social media where GEC are bought/sold/traded.

I tried to be cool and understanding and I was going to pay his full asking price on the original thread but he said it was sold on a different forum earlier. I asked which one and got no response..

Or worse, since he’s asking so much more than originally
I always get kinda turned away by people who put their life story into a sales post.

Well it's that time of the year and my mom needs 7 new kidney's again.

I was rescuing a group of orphans in a tree and a train hit my car.

Something like a Northwoods would sell on here in a minute for full asking price even before the current surge in demand.

Four members said they would take it within a minute of the listing… at $350.
I think if someone rolled back and checked all the Northwoods threads they wouldn't find many that lasted more than an hour regardless of the price.

I'm very surprised I manged to get two on here.

I don’t think any BF rules were broken,
It is hard to tell what exactly happened in that thread (or threads) but to me there seems to be several rule violations. I don't think the seller can list the same knife within 14 days even if deals from the original posting fall through. Next, every single person who commented in that thread out side of expressing interest in the transaction violated the rules. Last, while not against the rules, sleazy people who simply post "take" should make all of our ignore lists. Yuck.

Several posts have been removed is why.

Short version… seller listed the knife on Tuesday for $350, four members said they would take the knife.

Knife was listed for sale again today for $480, sellers excuse for the early relist was non payment by two of the members… no explanation about the other two takes or why the $130 increase in price.

Understandable why some are not happy about the situation.

And you’re correct about the numerous rule violations.

Just a little correction to the post above. All the posts that were in the thread are in the thread and are in order. The only part that might still be confusing are the two posts by the seller which were edited.

Thanks for the clarification… gonna be one of them days for me

I was the first to post “take” he didnt specify he wanted it to be claimed by. “I’ll take this” or anything like that. Honestly if you take the time to type “hello!, I will take this please sir” you will be about the 15th response and will never be in time to claim anything like a knife of that caliber. I don’t think typing take for the sake of being to the point it sleazy..

sounds like he relisted because he realized there was more money to be had... thats why collecting gec is practically no fun any more to me. its all about profit for some people.

Shit, it’s not just that, the Traditional Forum itself has become a “look what I got, ok what’s next!” forum due to the craze. Once a knife comes out, it’s dead news in a few days when the next model is announced.
