"Super Thin" Folders?

After seeing how easily my Phil Wilson custom dices through corn stalks like hot butter, I figure maybe a decently built folder with that same "super thin" edge might scratch my particular itch for a while.

I do happen to have a FFG Endura in ZDP that was reground by Tom Krein, but the FRN handles seems to bother me a lot more than I thought they would. I know it's similar to G10 and tough as nails, but I don't like the "feel" of it.

I've noticed some FFG Spydercos like the Para2 are also thinner behind the edge than some other knives, but I'm looking for something that's almost dangerously thin.

There isn't too much in particular I'm looking for other than something with at least VG-10 performance in terms of hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance(very important here). FFG blade and "nicer" handle materials like titanium or some quality wood.

I've had my eye on Fallkniven's folders, though I'm not sure if thinness behind the edge is one of their big selling points. I might be in custom territory here, but I just wanted to see if any production knives fit my criteria. Though I might be optimistic given that most knife manufacturers need to cater to people who abuse their knives.

What Phil Wilson blade did you get, Steel?

You aren't going to find a production blade that is even close to as thin as Phil grinds his blades.

You would be talking custom or having a blade reground to even get close.

Can you please post your reground grey para Jim? How thin was that anyway?

Not sure about Wilson's grinds but the thinnest blade I've ever had on a knife was a Benchmade Ritter Grip and I've had my share of customs. Scary thin really.

They are about 1/2 that thick or less.

Yeah, for a production blade grab a centofante 3, or if you can find one a centofante 4 from spyderco. Now, the handles are FRN, but IMO they are not cheap feeling at all, and look very nice. I've had some spyderco FRN that definitely gives you the cheap vibe just because of the weight and how it balances, but the Centofante is not one.

We are talking just behind the edge right? I can't see any knife being thinner then my Ritter and still be useable. I had to thicken the edge on the one I had. Maybe I got a rare gem?

Being that you want a very thin blade I assume that you won't be stabbing car doors with it any time soon. Check out some traditional folders from Case, Boker, ect. and especially if you can find one an old Imperial slippy (I love their stockmans) in a carbon steel. These knives were made to cut, and with their carbon steel blades they're tough as hell just not for abusive uses. Don't get Chinese made ones (accept for the damascus lock-back from Rough Rider, its the exception) as they're usually alot thicker than more high-end makers.

Also SAKs I are really thin.

As far as I can tell Bark River is the only production company anywhere that is willing to grind their edges super thin (it still gets them in hot water every once in a while), unfortunately they only do fixed blades. If you want a thin edge on a folder you have to do it yourself or get an after market re-grind.
