I'll try to make this brief but, bottom line, this member absolutely killed it as a new seller and forum member. (As of right now, he still has two Microtechs available on his sale thread).

posted three Microtech Combat Troodons for sale in the Automatic Knives (Individual) sales thread in the Knife Exchange. I was interested in buying one of his offerings. However, it was obvious he had just created an account and had zero feedback of any sort. I contacted him anyway to see if I could get some sort of evidence of his sales on other forums/communities. He said he didn't have any as he was very new at selling. I was a bit hesitant, given his lack of Blade Forums history and due to the expense of this knife... and asked to speak with him over the phone to get a sense of who he was. A fair thing to ask.
We had a great hour-long conversation as I am retired military and he is a two-decade-plus serving Chief Warrant Officer in the US Army. Turns out we have some shared background and experiences. He offered a solution once I let him know I lived in San Antonio. He mentioned having a close colleague/friend stationed at Ft Sam Houston (Joint Base San Antonio) and offered to see if he could send the knife to him, and I could then pick up from his friend in person... paying for the knife at the time of the exchange. Basically, offering a solution to reduce my risk to me as the buyer. This was fine with me because the exchange would occur on the military post, and my concerns were largely eliminated after our conversation anyway.
Well, that meeting took place this afternoon and went off without a hitch. His buddy, also a Chief Warrant Officer, was kind and accommodating, and was glad to be helpful to both of us. The knife was exactly as pictured and in the condition Jason had provided. No surprises... the knife is perfect. In the end, Jason took a chance on a guy he didn't know and came through like a champ. I will happily buy from him again if the opportunity presents itself.
Thanks again, Jason, and Merry Christmas to you and yours! Take care, Chief! ~ Rob
