Superglue finish Vs. lacquer

I've read some old post about superglue finish.
Somebody noted how this kind of finish is extremely valid for display pieces but is very very fragile for use pieces, as the slightest bump will develop a white cloudy spot which will enlarge, where the resin detaches from wood, or will form a spiderweb of cracks...
Is this finish less resistant than shellac, or japanese lacquer for example?

Scott Slobodian uses a superglue finish on his scabbards. I was just talking about super glue finishes on chat the other night. Everything that I have heard is that a superglue finish done right is much more durable than a lacquer finish. It does take a while to do them though. I'd link this thread on the shop talk forum to see what the other makers have to say.

Overdone, any applied finish will be susceptable to cracking or discolouration. Superglue finishes and others work best when they are allowed to soak in and seal the surface without a glossy buildup. The glossy surface is what tends to crack etc.
