Both are very similar - basically the same weight , same lenght, almost the same steel, same handle material -
It's said that the japanese VG10 steel is very slightly better than the american 154CM.
MANIX 2 is just a bit heavier - 3g is nothing - and also has a slightly longer cutting edge , extra 2mm .
Other than that the knives are quite similar ; lock is different though .

As a result ... why the price difference of over 60% when both knives should cost the same or be priced very very close ? Maybe I am missing something ...
I must admitt that I love the MANIX 2 - this is why I have recently purchased some sprint runs - but I can't wait for the SUPERLEAF - which is to be received pretty soon but I got it for slightly more than a regular MANIX 2 -

MANIX 2 specs :
length overall 8 in. (203 mm) blade length 3 3/8 in. (86 mm) blade steel 154CM
length closed 4 5/8 in. (117 mm) cutting edge 2 7/8 in. (73 mm) weight 5 oz. (143 g)
hole diameter 9/16 in. (14 mm) blade thickness 1/8 in. (3 mm) handle material G-10

SUPERLEAF specs :
length overall 7 15/16 in. (202 mm) blade length 3 7/16 in. (87 mm) blade steel VG-10
length closed 4 11/16 in. (119 mm) cutting edge 2 13/16 in. (71 mm) weight 4.7 oz. (140 g)
hole diameter 9/16 in. (14 mm) blade thickness 5/32 in. (4 mm) handle material G-10

the fact that superleaf is made in japan increases the cost (has to do with the strength of the US dollar) and if i remember correctly the manix 2 is one of spyderco's models they are trying a lower profit margin on.

If I remember correctly the Manix 2 was one of the knives that spyderco used to experimented with profit margins.

I'm pretty sure they allowed the Manix 2 to be sold at a lower price to see how/if the consumers would react. IE: more people buy the knife because it is cheaper = potentially higher profit.

See it as a gift to you from spyderco. You get an outstanding knife at an amazing price point.

I got the ideea !
In this case the KERSHAW LAHAR - I am happy I got one before being out of production - used to be an ocasion for a MRSP of 100$ , less than half of SPYDERCO SUPERLEAF : made in JAP, G-10 , VG-10 steel and even a larger and heavier folder than the SUPERLEAF !!!
Steel: VG-10 stainless-steel
Handle: Textured black G-10
Blade Length: 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm)
Closed Length: 4 7/8 in. (12.3 cm)
Overall Length: 8 3/8 in. (21.2cm)

Weight: 5.5 oz.

I agree, I don't think Spyderco's super platform is all that great. Which is probably why the Superhawk sold so few that it got discontinued. Go for the Manix 2, it's a great deal.
