Anybody have any experience, negative, positives, any input at all would be great. I'm considering one because the blade is so stout and I love the compression lock. Make me not buy this! Lol

Oh, it's very nice. Quite light for a very stout knife. 4mm thick VG-10(one of my favorite steels), compression lock(one of my favorite locks), handle ergos you wouldn't believe. What's not to like?

The handles are the exact same dimensions as the superhawk(if you held one). I dunno what you consider decent, but I'd say the liners are plenty strong enough. I would have like the liners to be as thick as the ones on the Gayle Bradley though.

yea i believe they are strong enough. im just so picky its crazy. i would also have liked them to be about gayle bradley size. thank you soo much for information on this knife singularity35

Glad to be of assistance MikeyD. If the liners on the superleaf woulda been as thick as the bradley, I'd have gotten two or more because I'm just a fan of beefy knives.

if you had to get only one which would it be between the gayle bradley and the superleaf?

The superleaf is a great knife IMO. Nice and thick, but cuts like crazy.
If I could only get one between the superleaf and gayle bradley however, I would go GB.

Please explain.

Sure thing. I have done cardboard tests with these knives and many others. The M4 on the GB is just amazing.
I found a shaving sharp edge on the M4 lasted much longer than the VG-10 in my tests. I apologize I don't have
exact numbers.
Also, the GB feels very solid. The liners on the GB are very thick compared to the superleaf giving the impression
that the GB is "tougher". Whether real or just perceived, I like it.
And lastly I prefer the carbon fiber to the G10 aesthetically.

I want to say though, that I really, really like the superleaf and would recommend one to anybody.

I have the GB (love it) and have been considering the SL (although both are larger than I would like.)

F&F and finish on the GB is absolutely top notch, as good as I've seen in a production knife.

How about the SL?

F&F on my superleaf was very good.
The compression lock was not as sticky as my para2s.
The blade was just a smidge off center.
There was a rough spot inside the opening hole.
The slightly off center blade and the spot in the opening hole were the only flaws I could find on it.
I was able to center the blade with very little effort.
Absolutely no blade play in any direction.
The G10 is very thin on the superleaf. For having such a thick blade, the superleaf is surprisingly thin overall.
About the same as a manix2 with a much thicker blade.
If the design of the superleaf appeals to you, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. :D

I will agree that the GB does have the upper hand in the steel department over the Superleaf. However, I feel that is all it has over it. IMO, the Superleaf could quite possibly be the most ergonomic knife that Spyderco makes, hands down. It absolutely melts in your hand and the forward choil is amazing for choking up and detail cutting. I also feel that the compression lock is far stronger than any other lock Spyderco offers. Fit and finish on my SL was as good as my GB. The wire clip on the SL is also a big plus IMO, nicely executed by Spyderco. They are both superb knives, and if at all possible, handle them both, it may help your decision. Good luck, can't go wrong with either!

Thanks guys! I'm leaning towards the gb because I've never read a SINGLE bad review on it not one or heard of any problems with it people where having. Also people say the fit and finish is as good as some customs. To me that is amazing. Although I'm sure both are great great knives.

My standard answer: Get both! :)

The GB is just amazing in F&F. The action is slicker than owl ***t. It's a really NICE knife and fun to fondle.

The SL is a great knife, but I see it as more utilitarian. I like the beefy blade. And, I REALLY like that it's a big knife with a wire clip. I'm a big fan of wire clips.

I wouldn't mind dinging up my SL. But, I'd treat the GB as more "special." The SL is a good Timex or Casio. The GB is more like a Rolex. That's probably a really bad analogy, but I'm going to leave it there! :D

Oh yeh, you won't go wrong with a GB. You might need to get used to the proud liners at first but all in all it's an outstanding knife especially at the price point. I got one then because I liked it so much, I just had to get another as a pre-need replacement. The CPM-M4 is awesome, it's a beast of a folder and besides it pretty too.

The first thing that came into my mind when i first held the superleaf was ''Man, this things is huge, but it's so light!''
The superleaf has great egros and opens up smoothly. It's compression lock is less sticky than my para2 too.
However the closed profile of superleaf is bulky, which i don't like because it takes up alot of pocket space.

Thanks singularity for all the amazing pictures. Yea I'm gonna get the gb first! Also I like how it's not so wide when closed as to the sl. It indeed would take up less pocket space. The gb is like a gold plated tank I love it now!!
