Supermarkets have me lost

hell I got stabbed 6 times I should of hated knives but when I was fit I got into them in a very big way. the size does not matter how to use them does.

The USA doesn't seem to care much about kitchen knives, yet anyway. I see all manner of long pointed knives on the racks of churches within easy reach of anyone, even kids. Nothing has ever happened bad however, but when I pull out a small folder within sight of the same rack, the little old women all look and comment on how it's so deadly. Go through any Walmart and kitchen knives hang freely within easy reach, in flimsy plastic sleeves, same with axes, pruning saws and everything else made for rough cutting, all out in the open within easy reach. Contrast that to the UK where I've read all of that stuff is locked up and a hassle to buy. Maybe there is more to it than just the smaller stuff is easier to steal and more valuable? I think people in the USA have more fear of smaller easily hidden blades, they seem to be perceived as more sneaky I think and less useful. The UK thinks bad about them all!

I would tend to disagree with that. In the UK as well. Hunting, fishing and pocket knives tend to be under lock and key, whereas kitchen knives are still just hanging off pegs in clamshell packs. They usually have a sign nearby saying it's illegal to buy a kitchen knife if you're under 18 (actually not true at all, it's illegal to sell a knife to someone under 18). We have a media that screams about "think of the cheeldren" when a high court judge peels an apple in court with his "perfectly legal to carry without needing a reason sub 3" non-locking pocketknife" but they ignore the fact that 98% of stabbings happen with cheap stainless plastic handled kitchen knives which are freely on display in any local supermarket in the kitchenware section. Logic doesn't come into it. Apparently, what the letter of the law actually says (and a High Court Judge would know things like that), doesn't either.

In Texas, I've never seen a (supermarket) store put a knife in locked display cases. They just hang them up in clamshell blister packaging.

I live in Texas, and the Walmarts here(Ft Worth area) have quite a few knives in locked display cases. They have the clamshells hanging up, but they carry a lot of Gerbers, Victorinoxs, the Buck 110, a couple Kershaws(Kuro, Crown, Blur) in boxes, and those are all locked up.
