Supersteel and The Sebenza

The price of the Gareth Bull is comparable or less than the CRK small Sebenza, or at least it was when I ordered it a year ago. Of course, the delivery of the GB is a bit less reliable/longer/variable.

If I didn't have the GB coming (eventually), I'd probably order the Acies to see whether it was what I wanted. Otherwise, I'd have the CRK small Insingo. Sure it isn't the super steel, but the quality of manufacture is so high, and the knife is so well thought out (with terrific understanding of blade grinds), that it rightly holds a place in the pantheon of knives.

Another thought--have you looked at Burger knives? I think they are similar to the Gareth Bulls.

Cheers,
Daniel

The Burger LEXK in Damasteel is a super knife although it is a liner lock and not really the same as the warlock. I have both so just shout if you want a pic.

I really don't know what people do with their knives that S30v won't handle. I never had a problem with my Sebenza.

IMO, upgraded steel is worth way more than a thousandth of an inch better fit and finish. so, you don't understand someone wanting steel that easily outshines Reeve's steel, which you will notice if you actually use your knife at all, while you pay a premium for a level of fit and finish which is unquantifiable without a microscope? okay.

OP, try out spyderco's m4, it's amazing.unfortunately the GB is a bit heavy for some, though the blade should be worth it, and the GB air is small and has no clip. if either of those designs suit you, you can't go wrong. I was lucky enough to snag a military in the steel, so I'm a happy camper.

PICS please! :D

Wolf hope these help.

Here is my LEXK. It looks much worse now then it did in these pictures.

This pictures give you some idea on how much I have used it. You can see I have sharpened it to a low angle, applied a micro bevel that has become a macro bevel. The G10 is significant smoother then it was new. I hope to pick up one with Damasteel at our local KGSA show or I will order one in Damasteel afterwords if there is none available at the show.
