Non of them seem to carry 1095. Anyone have a good source for 1095 I'm looking for for pieces from 2"-5"W x 10"-17"L x .188"-.25"T.

I'm originally from the other side of the thumb than you (Port Huron.) This might sound crazy to you but I actually miss the weather there.

The bitter cold and winds this last winter really got to me. But I really do like the change of seasons, and don't think I would like it elsewhere where the extremes are much more extreme.

BTW, welcome. Only advice I can offer is this: Don't be afraid to ask questions, read lots, grind lots, read lots, grind, read,......................

And don't get discouraged. I couldn't get the knack when I started to shape my first piece(s) of steel, and was flustered. That's when I stopped spending so much time grinding and filing, and started reading instead. There are some very good links in the stickys. I have yet to finish a blade, but am close to maybe if I get lucky, I am working on a couple that might turn out.
