I was wondering if others felt there should be some sort of section for makers to go to when they are looking for supply's. Seems like it would be very helpful to have the info handy.

Regards,

Tom Carey

It would be nice to have a supplier's section. That way we could get on their web site whenever and also be able to compare prices and product availability.

Tom, great idea. I'd use it for sure. Plus it would be a good place for makers to sell off their excess of some materials or suggest places to buy materials. I think it would be a boon to those of us who spend a whole lot of time chasing rainbows.

I took on this task a couple of months ago. I am still compiling information in this area. If any of you folks out there know of some REALLY good sources, please email me, it would be greatly appreciated.

The list of suppliers will be a "use at your own risk" sort of thing and no one recommends for or against using any particular supplier.

Senator,

Thanks for the url for that very informative site. Actually what I have in mind is something based here where makers would be able to sell or trade surplus material to others that have material they need. Sort of a materials exchange if you will. This would be a great way to act on the barter ideas that were disscussed in another thread.

Tom Carey

I have got moose horn I would be willing to trade pieces of to anyone who wants to try it. If you have never used it, it has muted blues, reds and pinks in the center.

I seem to say this a lot, but once more I agree with Tom. Great site! That site deserves a thread of its own. Some of the info on it is outdated and it would help them if they got feedback from various folks. They could also use some updates on links. Thanks for the input though, I have bookmarked it for sure.

Yes also I looked into getting added to the site and it seems a certain bribe would be in order.

That's no biggy but it is an outdated site. The other thing is the suppliers listed are all people makers generally deal with. I really did not see any sources that were listed that most do not know about. At least among makers I know. These makers who are not even on the net but know about these sources. Then there is the fact that we can stay updated here instantly.

pawnbroker,

It just so happens I have a friend asking for a piece of Moose antler larger enough to be used on a sword project of his. Do you have anything you think would be large enough?

Regards,

Tom Carey

This is just a sample of the list so far just for the supply houses only. This does not include the places that just supply certain materials such as stag or mother of pearl, just the general supply houses.
