Surefire E2e HA Passaround

Since TheBadGuy brought it up, I vote let's make it a reality. I already own a 8x which is a rechargeable and puts out 110 lumens. It's real bright. The E2e puts out 60 Lumens. I would like something that is smaller and more portable, so I would also be interested in a passaround/raffle, situation. I suggest that we get 10 people to fork over $8.00 to buy an E2e HA from 1sks.com. This extra $0.80 will go to cover the initial shipping charge. I suggest that if the light comes with batteries, then it can be used as much as each individual wishes, as long as a fresh set is purchased and shipped to the next person still in the packaging to assure "freshness". Each person will keep it for a week, and then it will be raffled off, using a State Lottery (each person that signs up gets assigned a number from 0-9, and the first number drawn on a certain date will determine the winner.) E-mail me if you are interested, and respond to this message.

Mike

BTW, if more than 10 are interested, well go for 20 and have 2 separate passarounds (or more if possible).

Ok, this is starting off fairly quickly. We should have 10 pretty soon.

This a good idea, but I think I have to pass, because if I like it and I don't win I'll want to buy one.

Already have an E2e, but I'm going to be watching this passaround to see how many of the participants purchase E2e's immediately after trying one out. :)

Have fun with the E2e, I'm sure everyone will love it. I also predict that there will be minimal visible wear, that HA coating is really tough.

Oh, one suggestion. You might need to buy extra lamp assemblies, since they only have a 30-hour life expectancy. Just leave it unopened and ship it around to be installed only when needed.

You got me on the word raffle. I am in. Email on the way.

I just got the G2 and am already addicted to surefires.

One in ten are good odds.

This will look great with the Sebenza that I win. :p

Thanks Medic1210.

Interesting. A lamp will last about 30 hours. That is about 3 hours apiece of burn time if my calculations are correct. I wouldn't reach that kinda use in a week's time I don't think, but if somebody thinks we might, then throw the suggestion out there.

I don't know how long a typical battery would last, maybe I'll dash over to Candlepowerforums and find out. Anyways, the light and 10 batteries from 1SKS would run around 100 bux. At $10 a pop, that is still pretty good rental+raffle fee. If we get 10 of us in on it, Even with the light, a spare bulb, and 10 batteries, we are still only looking at around $12 apiece.

I'd like to hear from a current owner of one of these who could give us some insight into what we'd need right off the bat to get this thing rolling. Would one battery last a person one week? If so, then the 10 pack would be a good thing.

Either way, I'm still in.

What about this? Just send the thing without batteries then you can insure that they are fresh and you pay for them.

I am in what ever you guys decide. But I would suggest maybe jacking up the price a couple of bucks so we can purchase enough batteries to last the duration of the passaround. Only reason I say that is b/c I am not sure where the batteries are available at a brick and morter and 6-10 of us all buying one battery online and paying shipping might not be the best way to go. Personally I would be suprised if the Surefire got a full hours worth of use when its in my possesion. I plan on using it and evaluating, however I don't plan on going camping for a weekend with it or going coon hunting or anything. So I am in for either one.

I wrote this in the old thread :)

The batteries will run the light for 75 minutes. The colour of the light changes noticeably as the batteries are running down (I'd say the last 20 minutes or so will give you slightly more yellow light).

I don't use my light a lot, only for brief periods of time like when fixing things in dark corners or to light up a dark sidewalk. So for my usage, I run through a set of batteries every 3-4 weeks. Of course, while you're testing it, you're going to eat batteries like mad. :)

I discussed this with a couple of owners. Word has it that a 30 hour bulb should do just fine for the duration of the passaround. It seems that one set of [2] 123A's will go about an hour. My thinking is that I would probably not hit an hour of constant on time, so a set of batteries would probably do most people just fine.

These batteries are available at Long's Drugs, Wally World, Kit's Cameras..... various places. So virtually everybody should be able to pick up a set from someplace rather readily. Duracells work fine so the story goes.

So what say we go with Medic1210's original suggestion. Kick $8 and go find yer batteries. Prolly a better idea not to ship a bunch of batteries back and forth anyways.

How we doin' so far, fellas?

Sounds good, I didn't know if it would be hard to buy batteries at store or not. So how many more do we need?? Looks like we have 6 huh?? Only 4 more :D

Problem with the 10 pack is, the light uses 2 batteries, so 20 would need to be bought. This will mean more shipping costs for the first few people on the list. Probably will be better if we do one of two things depending on whether or not the light ships with batteries from 1sks. If it does, then the first person uses those batteries, and before shipping to the next person, they buy another set (left in pack to assure freshness) and ship the light with those batteries.

If the light ships without batteries, then each person buys their own set, and ship the light without batteries.

I think one lamp assembly will do for 10 people.

Most of them probably! HAHA!

I wonder how many people will buy Sebenzas one they try the passaround? I already have! :D

I like the idea of buying our own batteries. I plan to do some comparison on batteries. But, what ever you all decide is ok. Looks like we need four more. Almost there!!!

Well I found out my local grocery store carries them so I am in for whatever you guys decide for the battery thing. Hope this works out!

Many stores carry 123 batteries, since they're used in cameras. They're kind of expensive though, at $3-$4 for one.
