surefire e2e or e2e elite

Slowhand,

If you like the G2, which is a great light, but want a combatlight, check out the new G2Z. It is the G2 with a combat grip, pyrex window and a lock-out tail cap. A great compromise between affordability and features.

This is the only picture I could find outside the catalog..should be third from the left.

As for the M2, I own one and love it...but beware...it is a BIG 2 cell light. Not so big you cant carry it in a pocket, but it is much bigger the a 6P in my opinion.

You convinced me. I asked a friend in the USA to buy the E2e elite HA for me from 1SKS. It will only arrive here on August 2nd but I'm already looking forward to it.
Thanks again for all your kind advice.

Because of this thread I ordered my E2E from Botach, they are having a hell of a Surefire sale.

Another interesting test of the SF E2e at the The SureFire Discussion Board:

I am taking E2e diving today.

Here I quote the result:

I am back.

E2e is waterproof to appr. 15-20ft. After that it got FLOODED. It kept working for about a minute, then went out. It is drying right now, and I don't think this caused any long term damage...(I hope). I find the bean on my pelican more useful underwater. And E2e is too easy to lose: It is almost invisible in the river water(HA), and is far from "neutral flotation" level.

p.s. Surge is nice, but I still like my Pelicans better...
.
.
.
p.s. I droped SF123As and DL123As in a glass of water for 24 hours with no foam or any kind of discharge.

bye

Wick, that G2Z looks awesome! But where can one find that light? I looked at the Surefire web site and couldn't find it. Is it an older model out of production? Or so new that it hasn't hit the street yet?

Also, what is that light, third from the right, in the picture? It looks like an E2e from the bezel down, but that is one funky bezel!

The G2Z does look awesome doesn't it? It is supposed to be available at the end of this month. Apparently some people have been able to pre-order them by calling Surefire, I haven't tried yet. Hopefully it will actually be available by August.

The 3rd from the right is an E2e with the, still unreleased, KL1 conversion bezel. The bezel makes the light a single LED Luxeon, should be good for 20 lumens at 2 hours and then another 30 or so hours of very useable light. Two more lights over is the L2 Lumamax. The only difference between the L2 and an E2e with KL1 is the L2 is supposed to have a two stage tail cap allowing the LED to operate at 10 or 20 lumens as you see fit. Between the two lights is the L1 Lumamax, a 1 cell version of the L2 with the same lumen output and shorter run time.

Edited because I can't spell.

Cool. That will give me time to recover from the E2 and E2e purchase. Well, unless I order something in the HA then. But anyway.....

Oooooh, aaaahhhh, that sounds pretty nice. First time I read through it I really didn't see the reason for a 20 lumen light for 2 hours, when the MN02 is due for release soon, at 25 lumens for 2.5 hours. But then I read again and realized +30 hours after that at a usable light. That is SWEET!

This could be bad..... ;)

Well, I received my second Surefire yesterday, the E2. Pretty pleased. I like the knurling on the E2 better. One minor detail that I'm a little displeased with, though; the clip was secured by a brad or rivet or something, instead of an allen head screw. Essentially, non-removable. 'Course, nothing is really non-removable, but it sure made it harder, and the clip is not re-attachable now. Just as well. This is going to replace my mini-Mag, essentially, (especially after I get the MN02) which works better without the clip in my usage.

Flashing first one light then the other, I couldn't tell a difference in light output (one being Pyrex lens, the other Lexan). Side by side against the wall, the E2e looked maybe a little brighter, just barely. Thing is, that could be due to the batteries as much as the lens, I think. The E2e has SF batteries, the E2 some non-brand Chinese jobs that came as extras. I didn't even bother putting the SF's in it, since it is just going to be a daily carry light.

I switched out tail-caps on the lights, putting the lockout cap on the E2, and vice versa. The E2e, as I may have mentioned before, is going to stay next to the bed, good and fresh, for any middle-of-the-night ... incidents. As such, not being carried, the E2e is more suited to the non-lockout cap, since that one is always hot unless it is almost screwed off. The E2, riding in my back pocket next to the wallet, will use the LOTC. I really think that for tactical applications, the non-LOTC would seem to be the better set-up. But then, I'm really pretty non-tactical, so what do I know.

Anyway, as a pair, they fulfill my needs. Now, if I can just get a couple more, like the G2z, and maybe something in HA ;) , I can fulfill my wants. Or at least one or two of them. :D

For a while, the E1 & E2 Bezels did come with a PocketClip that could removed from the Bezel using one of Alan's keys. The trouble was that SureFire were getting reports (via Customer Service rather then online so much) that the fixing was not that secure, and that it was too easy to dethread. So the design was changed back to a rivet.

The BBT just dropped off my E2e HA. You can't call yourself a gear nut without one. Very cool from Botach for $55. In my favorite color too, olive drab. Wish my wife was as impressed as me. I guess the fact that it was waiting on me when I returned from my FFL after buying a CZ-75 did not help. I gave her cash and sent her off to buy a new watch. I buy her something shiny then spend five times as much on something subdued. This has been my MO for ten years. Did it backwards this time. Always good to change positions to keep it fresh. LOL. Go order an Eze.
