I've been doing some research for quite a while on Surefire's flashlights. It was at first the 6P and I have a lot of good news about the E2E. Is this a good choice? I've been visiting www.candlepowerforums.com the past week or so and been absorbing information. Didn't know if anyone on this board had either the 6P or E2E..curious for your opinion on the flashlight. There is an upcoming Gun & Knife show here in Tulsa and I always see a ton of Surefire stuff, but I prefer to save some bucks and buy it online. Thanks in advance.

The E2E is a great flashlight; it's light, bright and has a good throw. Additionally, it is versatile; you can add a LED head, filters, and use lower power lamps. About the only downside to this light is the relatively high cost of Surefire components as compared to some other flashlight manufacturers.

I have the E2E and KL1 LED head. I find the standard E2E a little too bright!.... The KL1 is a good trade-off between brightness and run time.

The E2E is a good choice for EDC. I have an E2 that I EDC'd for a year before moving on to LED lights. I like the body and clip of the E2E better than the regular E2 (my L4 has the same body/clip).

The E2e (Executive Elite) and E2o (Executive Outdoorsman) are the two current models.

The E2 has been discontinued for some time (although dealer may still have stock).

The E2e has the MN03 60Lu/75min Lamp Assembly and the short PocketClip.

The E2o has the MN02 25Lu/2.5hr Lamp Assembly and the long PocketClip.

Both the Lamp Assemblies and PocketClips are interchangeable between models (the only difference to the bodies is the laser etching)

There are three major options for the E2e & E2o:

KL1 1W Luxeon Bezel (in white light, red, blue or green)

KL4 5W Luxeon Bezel (in white only at this stage)

Z57 Clickie TailCap to replace the LockOut TailCap.

The bezels of the Executive Series are in the process of changing so that they are lightly scalloped so that when you place the flashlight bezel down on a flat surfaces, you can tell if it's still switched on!

A good review site is Sean's Flashlight Site. He has beamshots and photos of the E2 and such. Worth checking out.

The E2e is an excellent choice [to be starting with]. Once you get one SureFire, it's only the beginning...

Wow thanks guys...glad to know I had my mind set on a good purchase. Can't thank you guys enough...personal opinions are where its at. :D :D

The E2E and G2 seem to have pretty much nullified the 6P. I have both and prefer the E2E for its more svelte form factor. However, the LED L1 and L4 may be worth your consideration. For anything short of gunfighting I have been using the L1 quite a bit. The dual level output is really more useful than I first thought, and the added dependability of the LED are strong points in my book.

Well I'm thinking about getting the KL1 head for mine whenever I get a chance to order it. I've heard good things about these and I would like to see what kind of light they put out. I don't usually need something super bright but I do like it late at night looking for something. Never thought I'd buy anything more than a Maglite...man was I wrong :D

I've had my E2e for 3 months now. It's a very impressive light. As much light as a 4D M*glight. Beautifully finished. A nice beam that projects well over 100 yards. The most functional aspect of the light is the small, small size. It's like a penlight and only weighs a few ounces. For EDC, it's so small that you hardly know it's there.

well there's not much i can add to Size15's info about the e2e, but i would carefully consider the l1 or the a2 unless you plan on edcing a smaller light. actually, by your description the a2 seems pretty perfect, it has the bright light when you need it and has the 3 leds when you don't. i'm surprised no one has suggested it already. oh yeah plus the incandescent bulb in the a2 is digitally regulated. if you're not sure if you're going to need to high brightness you might consider the l1 though, because you have two luxeon levels of brightness and there's no maintenance other than batteries. also it only takes one so if you're having to scrounge for batteries you can make it work with only one as opposed to the a2. on the other hand there's nothing wrong with the e2e, it's a nice light and before i lost mine (   ) i dropped it numerous times with it on without the bulb burning out. now ymmv but it does speak to the issue of broken bulbs a little bit. if it were me doing it again though i'd probably get an a2 or an l1.

Pete

ps. let us know what you decide on.

I could have launched into how great the A2, L1 and L4 are.
But then I realised that the E2e is a great flashlight, and although I have long since moved on (I no longer carry the A2 or even L4), the E2e remains great place to start and I should remember that not everybody wants to lay down the $$$ for an A2 or L4 just yet.

There are a TON of guys here who have them and love them! "Cutting Edge" flashaholics are moving alot toward LED lights but the venerable E2E is an outstanding light by just about anyone's standard! Hope you can get one and enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine!

I think Size15s put it well in his last post saying, "not everybody wants to lay down the $$$ for an A2..". I don't want to spend $130 on a flashlight right now...and I can probably get the KL1 or KL4 as a present from my parents. Is this a good route? Which is a better LED head anyway? Thank you all for your comments...always a warm fuzzy feeling after hearing from you guys :D

Tactical Warehouse has the KL4 on their website, but considering that it sells for $95 you may as well buy the whole light and get the z57 clickie along with it.

As far as the KL1 vs. the KL4 and which is "better"--it's all a matter of perspective. I have an L1 and an L4. When I first got the L1 I really enjoyed it as an EDC, but I got spoiled by the brightness of the L4 and now I carry that instead. The L1 was great because of the dual outputs although the low was a little too low for me. The L4 isn't really good for prolonged use as it gets a little hot (to me, anyway), but I usually need it only for short bursts so it works perfect for me.

I carry the E2e-HA with me, clipped to the outside of my right front pocket. I substituted a longer clip to make it easier to slid on and off my pocket. I love that light.

I was carrying it in my shoulder bag, but found it far too useful to stash it. I now use it more than my Princeton Tec Blast, which I also love. The E2e throws light like no other.

I was cleaning out my grandmother's garage this weekend. There's no light in there except daylight that seeps in. There was stuff piled in the loft. My E2e lit up the area so I could see what was there. Didn't want to surprise any mice or rats. It is now my light of choice except when I need to use both hands. Then I use the Blast, held in my mouth.

If the E2e was waterPROOF and could be held in one's mouth, it would be perfect.

Apologies for my ignorance, but regarding the Lumens per hour you posted, does that mean the Outdoorsman at 25 Lumens is less bright than the regular E2e at 60?
