Surefire Executive Elite 2? Do I need this?

After reading a little about the Surefire lights, I think I need one. The problem is deciding which one! How about the one mentioned in the subject line? Also, what accessories should I get for it?

Thanks!
Chris:confused:

While I'm at it, I may as well ask about the Photon microlights. Which color is best? Basic white, red, orange, etc.? And do I need the 3rd version with strobe, etc?

Thanks again!

Surefire:
I'm pretty sure the one you mean is the Surefire E2e (Executive Elite). I have one and I love it! IMO, its the best everyday carry flashlight ever!

Photon:
I have two photon IIs, a white and a blue. I like the white because of the accurate color, but the blue is much brighter. I just got an Arc AAA white and its much better than the photons. Get the Arc AAA instead.

Alright! That was fast! I appreciate your advice! I suppose you are too smart for me! ;)

Don't take my name personally. ;)

And don't jump to conclusions to quickly. While I would trust my life to these lights, many others on the board have different opinions.

E2e is an awesome light for it's size. If you like pocket clips and feel that you are going to stick with the same lamp assembly it's about as close to perfect as I've found for a light of that size. I personally have come not to be a big fan of lights with clips and am considering a lanyard system instead where the light goes deep in the pocket with lanyard slightly protruding. Looking very hard at the G2Z for this.

I too prefer the white leds as they show a truer sense of color, which can be important sometimes. If you are just worried about not stubbing your toe in the middle of the night, any color will work fine with green and blue being the brightest. I have white and red. Like both, find that white is more "useful." I like the Photon IIIs because they have a "dim" feature which will help conserve the battery.

For what it's worth...

Got an E2e as well and like everybody else I LOVE it. I would consider a red filter though for use at night. For example if you just wake up at night and turn on the flashlight it's very bright; almost so much so that it hurts your eyes because they haven't adjusted. A minor problem that doesn't bother me that much but definitely a good light!

2smart,

I wasn't taking you too seriously, and I sure hope you weren't taking me too seriously. Many have done so to their detriment. ;)

I appreciate all the advice you guys have given, and think I'll give the e2e a try. Thanks a mint!

I don't have either one, yet, but am torn between the E1E or E2E. Can anyone provide any insight on which is preferred and why? I am leaning towards the E1E with KL1 due to the smallish size, although the brightness of the E2 sounds pretty damn good as well. I'll probably end up with both eventually, but which would you start with?

get the E2e HA, the HA finish really makes a diff is scratches/scuffs bother ya like they do 'ol anal retentive me....and the E2e is a very handy light, i carry mine everywhere, it has the TAD sheath and a TID on it too,

I agree with the "yes, you need a Surefire E2e" motion.

I also agree with im2smrt4u, the Arc AAA is fantastic; a really essential keyring item. Get one of those while your ordering your Surefire E2e.

You might also look at the E2-HA (not the E2e-HA).
For a $10 savings you'll get the same or better beam with simply a different pocket-clip and lens.
I say same or better because I have an E2-SG and an E2e-HA and I actually prefer the beam on my E2-SG.
I don't know if its the different lens or the very very slightly smaller diameter but my E2 has a slightly more focussed beam.
The HA (hard anodizing for anyone thoroughly confused by now) is a must for everyday carry but for a $10 price difference the other features make it hard to justify.

Dennis, if you are going to clip it in a pants pocket I would recommend the e2. I've lost an e1 because it was always turning the lip of my pocket inside out, the extra length of the e2 keeps it from doing that.:)

I think everybody should have an E2 or E2e and a couple of Photons.

I normally EDC a E2-HA, a Photon 2 in green, a Photon 2 in purple and a Photon 1 in blue. The Photon 3s are cool, but I have had a lot of trouble with mine getting turned on in my pocket and running the battery down. I normally keep a green Photon 3 on a beadchain to wear around my neck on special occasions and a purple Photon 3 splitringed to the lanyard of my turq. ARC aaa.

I like my ARC, but it will never actually replace the Photon for me. I had a couple of white led ARCS and just never really got excited about them and ended up trading them off.

The white Photons are nice for color correctness, but I find that the green works well enough for my eyes and is much brighter.

Had an E2, switched to the E2e-HA. Rocks man. The E2 doesn't have a lockout endcap, so could turn on accidently. The E2e locks out.

The G2 is a bit less expensive if you want to take the "starter" approach. As was said, a lanyard set-up is available or could be rigged instead because the G2 doesn't have a clip.

The Photon-II I like better because of the constant-on option switch, and the III has/had accidental-on issues.

Colour preference IMO, white and red. Old school night sight thought prefers red. I've read a bit about the blue & blue-green being better, but haven't checked it out.

I also have an ARC. Very bright LED.

I carry both the Photon and the ARC in different pockets.

You could get a G2, Photon-II, and an ARC for under $100, and most likely be able to get back a good amount if not all if you decide you don't like one of them (Ebay).

While I really like my E2e-HA, what I really hate about it is the pocket clip. Don't get me wrong, I love having a clip, but it's just way to short for my needs. It is only that short of perfect.

My old E-1 is pretty cool, too. But your hand has to be extremely small for the "momentary on" hold. Still a great light.

First choice gulp gulp E2E.
