Folks! Surefire had 'stunned' me again with the announcement of the Digital Lumamax L-4 Led light with a luxeonstar 5-watt lamp! It has a lumen-rating of 65!! Hope this light will make it to Southeast Asia! I simply can't wait to own one! But before that, I oughta get the L-1 first! :D

Ah, my L4 has been delivered and it's at home. I have another 9 hours or so before I'll get to try it out. Oh the humanity.

:o

Arc LS4 is still scheduled for October release. Prototypes should be available in under 45 days according to Peter Gransee.

I hate to make a plug for any one dealer, but check out CPF's dealer forum. Some really good prices on the KL4..

Oh man! You guys are making me glowing with envy! 67-lumens? Oh WOW!   Guess I'll have to put in my order now! *heh-heh!* Say, what is your take on the brightness and ergos? Yeah, Shelby had a post at the USN with some really awesome shots of the SF Lumamax L-4.. ARC LS4? Ummmm.. I don't know about this one.. think its gonna be a bit pricey! :(

How does it compare, in size and weight, to the E2e? What will the typical runtime be on a set of batteries? I saw it listed at Tactical Warehouse, but they don't ship internationally:grumpy:! I envy you!!

Dude, don't be envious! I think Surefires are retailed in Japan.. Check out those ads in 'Combat' and 'Arms' magazine.. There's even a special market for Strider knives in Japan! I get all my Surefire from Singapore! :D

According to the Operator's Manual:
Maximum output of 65* lumens for 65 minutes, followed by 25 minutes of moderate output, with a total "useful" output of over 15 hours. Note: Useful output is defined as a level of output sufficient to illuminate an object, such has a keyhole, from a distance of several inches in total darkness.

*The inner flashlight-retaining part of the box says:
L4 LumaMax LED
Five-Watt Digitally Controlled
67 LUMENS

grnamin: Thanks for the info :) !

samo: I just got interested in flashlights (as if knives and watches weren't enough!) and picked up an E2e from 2thehilt, they were great. One of my students saw mine and wants one so I was going to try Texas Tactical Supply (a bit cheaper and they want batteries which 2thehilt doesn't carry). Japan, is a bit limited in supply and high in price (at least what I've found). Where do you use in Singapore? Thanks:)!

Sakugenken-san ~ I get my Surefires from Sheares Marketing in Singapore.. These dudes retail knives and tactical gear for the Singapore Armed Forces.. Prices are quite okay, though the wait is a killer, I can never be more satisfied with the range of SF products that they carry.. Also check out Supreme and Co in Hong Kong.. They are the largest distributor for ASIA.. Well, that much I can recall.. Anyway, good luck with the L-4! :D

Thanks for the info, Sam :)! Now I just have to decide between an L4 and an Arc LSH (I think my wife will kill me if I get both).

The L4 is less than twice as big as the LSH and provides 5 watts to the LSH's 1.
To me, size is the only thing going for the LSH and with the Arc clickie switch, even the size advantage isn't as great as it used to be.
The body of the L4 is the same as an E2e and the head is a liitle bigger than the KL1.

Sakugenken-san, Well can decide? Get both. Learn to lie to the wifey.. :p *heh-heh-heh-hehhe!* Keep one in the car and the other in your pocket.. :D

I've had a KL4/L4 for almost a week, now...Notes:

1. The Luxeon technology is still hit and miss when it comes to beam color. One of my KL4's is super white. The other is a pea green. I've heard this isn't an isolated incident.

2. This little light heats up faster than any incandescent. It will get too hot to touch.

3. The instant on of an LED is awsome.

4. The clickie switch is brilliant. Lots of pressure for the click, perfect pressure for quick on/off functions.

5. The street price fopr just the KL-4 LED hread is 90-100 bucks. Better off buying the complete Lumamx L4 light, instead of the seperate pieces.

6. Light output isn't necessarily greater than a SF E-series, but the beam quality and color is different than a Tungsten bulb.
