Need some input on Surefire LED flashlight. Need a good one for everyday use work, hunting, fishing, backpacking etc...... Want something easy to carry and dependable. Looking at LUMAMAX? HELP???????? Thanks

Surefire E1L. Very small and light, long run time and bright enough for most normal use.
Surefire L1 A bit longer but with two stages. One low with enough light to walk around by and a teriffic run time and brighter stage which gives about the some light as an E1L.
Surefire makes a very nice light.
Good luck in your search just keep in mind what you want to use it for and tailor your choice to your needs.

I've got the L7, or I would if they would ever send it back from waranty repair. Great light, really bright (~100 lumens). 2 hr run time on a rechargeable battery. The bezel gets pretty hot if left on for a long time, and it says as much right on the bezel. Something melted and leaked down onto one side of the LED. Didn't seem to affect the performance, but it was not spec, so I sent it back for repair. Anyway, it is brighter than the 1,000,000 candle power spotlight that I keep in my truck, but it is also about 10x more expensive as well. It throws an even area of light, without the spot and halo that are normal for almost all flashlights. Did I mention it is bright. Like the poster above said, remember what you want it for. I wouldn't recommend the L7 for a week long trek through the wilderness, but it is great if you want to really light up the night (like for blood tracking deer, which is the primary reason that I have one). If you have the cash, I don't think that you can go wrong with a surefire.

I have half a dozen Surefires of various sizes. My favorite for most uses, including the uses you listed, is the L2 Lumamax. Only 6 inches long, with a 18 hour 15 lumen and a 1 hour 100 lumen lamp. That 100 lumens is VERY bright.

I have an incandensent E2E,4.5" and 60 lumen. It is a great light and several of my friends have them. It rides in my hunting/survival pouch. It is my when you really need a lot of light light. I mostly use my Streamlight LED pen light to walk out of the woods at night after hunting. Just enought light and I don't lose all my night vision.

I have a L2 as well, very good light. All surefires are pricey, but made in the USA. I am looking at the E2D denfender I just dont know if I can justify the price for another light.

If you are looking for a good little general use light
Target has a small two AAA LED light with the brand Rock River on them.
They are like 10 or 15 bucks, very bright affordable, tuff, easy to carry and bright. I own four of them.

Hey guys, wait a little while. SF just came out with new LED models, with insane runtime, due to new CREE LEDs

I have an E1e with a KL1 head that I used as an EDC for a long time until I bought my L1. Both are great lights but the L1 has better run time ( on the low setting), fits in my pocket better, and was actually a little bit cheaper since the LED E1e hadn't come out yet.

I reccomend the L4, if you want namby pamby, then get a 1 watt phenix of some kind.

You cant go wrong with Surefire. I carry the G2. Its not LED but any Surefire is a top of the line flashlight. You wont be sorry you went with Surefire.

Surefire is amazing. I have a L4. I would recommend this to anyone wanting the best and willing to pay the price.
