Surface Grinder Belt Conversion

Since I recently acquired a newer (1954) Jung G60 surface grinder, I decided to convert my old, trusty 1942 Aba surface grinder to run belts. I designed the project in Solidworks and made all of the parts in my shop except for the two contact rollers, which I had made to my drawings by Picard GmbH here in Germany. The machine runs great and the tracking is very precise. It is very easy to quickly take the scale off a piece or true up something that would take much longer to do with stones. I made no modifications to the old machine, and it is possible to still run stones if desired. Since i made these pics, I have also installed a dust collector at the contact wheel and connected it to an industrial dust collection system. Let the Good Times Roll!

PS: For some reason all the pics I wanted to attach were rotated by the bulletin board software, so I'm linking to my Facebook page where they are imbedded.

And of course, you overengineered it compared to other conversions we have seen, but that is what you do, sir! :D

I'd say I kept it pretty simple, using mostly only materials I had laying around the shop – with the exception of the contact rollers, those do cost money.
