Surfacing Plates

I picked up a set in a trade the other day. I haven't even looked at them yet. Is anyone interested in them. I have no use for them!

I'll bite .What's a surfacing plate ?

A big chunk of steel about 3/4" thick that has been machined to be perfectly flat. I'm not sure how they would work for knifmaking except for the folder makers that have to make sure the pivot areas are flat.
