Thanks for all the support gang! The surgery went better than expected, no bone graft and they didn't need to wire my jaw shut!

My prayers are with you. All the best for a successful operation and a quick and full recovery.

God be with you bro.

Awesome news. Now you won't sit there and wish you had the tongue of a cat to clean the back of your teeth

Great news Dan, glad things went better than expected.

Hope things start looking up from here on

Glad to hear things went well.
Hope your chewing bacon again soon :)

Mmm, bacon... My jaw isn't wired shut... naw, I need to eat healthy for a few days an let the inside of my mouth heal. I look like, and it feels like, a golfball is in my cheek, but they didn't have to open me up on the outside, so that's another thing that went better than expected. Soon my little pork slices, soon...

I've been on so many different pain medications (dilaudid, hydro morphone, morphine, tylenol3) I haven't eaten much of anything the last few days. I'm done with the pain killers though, I had my little run at the hospital and they sent me home with T3, but sitting around, getting high on pain killers isn't my idea of a good time. Besides, vitamin M works just fine for me and allows me to still function.

They kept me an extra 24hrs because I had to wait for the PICC team. For those of you who don't know, a PICC line is a long term I.V. who's catheter extends from your arm (right forearm in my case) just to the top of the main artery in your heart. Wrestling with the idea that there would be a little tube literally tickling my heart was much worse than getting the catheter installed. I wished they had done it while I was out for the surgery, but whatever.

So now I've got an I.V. line that needs to be infused with antibiotics every six hours. Bad news is I didn't get the new style pump and fanny pack, I got the traditional, gravity fed drip line with the pole and the bag. Every six hours for the next six weeks I'll need an infusion. They said bone infections heal slower due to less blood flow which is why I'm going to have to be on the antibiotics for so long. The port for the I.V. is detachable, so I'm mobile, but I don't quite want to resume chopping, the heart tube thing is still kinda weirding me out.

woo hoo! good news. :)

THe power of friends, prayer, smoke and well wishes-Dont underestimate it:cool:
