Surplus store find

I picked up a couple of these little tins today. It's a German Army surplus butter dish 4 1/4" x 1 1/2" made from aluminum with a plastic liner dish and a thick rubber ring for a pressure seal. Pretty cool for $1.99. I think I'll make up a couple more fire kits. Can't have too many, right? :D

Awesome find. Our local surplus store sells more knock offs than anything else. Wish we had one that sold actual surplus military stuff :)

Kinda disturbing that the german military would issue butter trays though.:eek::D
 
No luck, I ran by my local surplus shop and they gave me a funny look when I said I wanted a military butter dish or anything resembleing this neat thing.
 
Same problem down here, not much in the way of true surplus. We've got a new store and he's carrying a bit more and his prices are really good. Might have to drop a hint that he look into these. Never knew the German army placed such an emphasis on butter. LOL

Looks like a great storage/cooking tin.
