So, my dad isn't a knife guy, but he was born in the early fifties, so he figured I couldn't really have a knife collection without having a Buck 110. So, to my great surprise, my present this year was a 110 from Buck's custom shop. He chose finger grooves, nickel bolsters/liners, exposed rivets, black water buffalo scales, and a combo s30v blade with my name engraved on it. Some of the options my dad picked out were not what I would have chosen (most specifically the combo blade, I'm a plain edge guy), but this knife will definitely have a cherished spot in my collection, forever.

I had played with the idea of getting a 110 in the past, but never pulled the trigger since I'm more of a modern knife guy. I'm glad I finally got my hands on one, this is a pretty impressive knife. The first thing I noticed was the heft of this thing, it has a serious feel. The lockup is tight with zero play, the disengagement is pretty tough, pretty similar to a Triad lock. If I try, I can feel a little side to side play in the pivot, it's weird to have no pivot adjustment. The fit and finish is great, easily on par with most of the Spydercos I've had but not quite up to Chris Reeve F&F. It's easy to see why for so long this was THE hard use folder. Now I just have to decide, safe queen or user.
