These were bieng manufactured in ww2

Some of these ww2 ones are marked "M44", & presumably they may be called that. Wooden grips are the usual.

Thats the Nicest specimein Ive seen!

some of the post 1947 Indian Officers ones are marked, "Tempered steel made in India." They often have the horn or ivory grips.

Has it got its original sheath? judging from its condition ,it might have?

Basicaly as you say, its the K45 design made using the M43 bolster. I am afraid I dont know which units used them. :rolleyes:

Spiral, Thanks for the info. The pic doesn't really do any of those fine blades justice (artificial light, size reduction, saved for the web, operator naiveté, etc.). And yes it has the original scabbard in nice shape, with horn handled karda and chakma.
