Well Things can go wrong.
Last night I dropped and broke a wide angle Nikon auto focus lense. Try using a 55-200mm in a photo Box:barf:
Than to day I etched a blade that the clay blew off to early. I am going to do it differently next time because I want to control the process and not the process control me. Here are the before and after pic's.

almost looks like a wide area map, very cool. That bites about the lens, was it at least a US warranty model?

I see the hamon as a friendly dinosaur gobbling up clumps of cookie dough. yum yum yum.... deeeeeelicious!

I think the knife looks good like that.

Hi Remy,
It was a Nikon. The replacement was $205. and it will be before the show in Mistic CT April 30th.

I think the blade looks killer! Sucks about the lens, but I can't tell you how many times I've dropped a lens to be horrified by broken glass and then be thankful it was just the $10 filter. I always put a filter on my lenses now.

That hamon actually looks pretty neat. I feel your pain on the lens. I dropped one of my Zeiss lenses years ago and was out a bundle.

Well I see nekid wimmen myself but I see them pretty much everywhere anyway. ;)

A happy mistake indeed!

Hi Giant J,
The new lens should be in Friday and the knife should be ready around Monday to photograph.

Patrice, :D

Well The new lens came in and here is the finished Knife in the first post.
I hump backed the Black wood a little and it is for a larger hand.
The Woolly Mammoth Ivory has some black and greenish checks and markings on it. The Ivory also has a healthy dose of super glue to stabilize the checks.
In the future I will be making more hamons and re reading Nick Wheelers post on finishing them Bunch more times.

Hmmmmm... you know, now that you mention it Patrice,... Maybe that handle looks a little bit like a "nekid wimmen" too, and the background,... and the tang,... and the finger guard,... and the spacer,... and the pins,... and the grind,... MY GOD! That's a a pornographic knife! You're an artist Dave! ;-)
