Surviorman "behind the scenes" ep Sep. 21

that's cool. I was wondering how he'd keep up with the demand of Discovery channel for new episodes without killing himself.

Ohh. I tought this will be another 10 episodes long series. I'm sorry to hear that it's the end of it. It started being good...:)

I'm sure new episodes are coming eventually. I don't think season one did that great due to "competition" if you wanna call it that. I'm sure they(les/his team/discovery) didn't want to drop all kinds of time and money into a show they weren't sure would prevail.

I am wondering what other kind of locations they are going to film in this season. In the season and a half we have seen so far, they have done pretty much every environment I can think of. I would selfishly like to see them do one in south Texas. I bet they could get permission from the King Ranch to film there. I also wouldn't mind seeing him do another swamp episode, but this time in the spring or summer instead of in winter. Somewhere in the Atchafalaya Basin in Louisiana would be nice. Lots of crawfish to eat for food, snakes and gators to dodge, etc... I guess they have only done one mountain episode so that is always an option.

behind the scenes? how could it get anymore behind the scene? it must be talking about scouting out locations and what not

From reading Les' journals on his website, it sounds like him and his crew get to an area a week or two in advance to scout out locations. He then does some training with a local instructor before heading out to start his seven day ordeal. It would be interesting to see what goes into a location and how much he knows about an area before he goes in. For instance, his crew and local expert are not going to drop him in an area with no chance of finding water, but does he know where the water is in advance? or does he just know that it is around him somewhere but he has to find it? I guess we will see on Friday night.

I really liked the one show (not Survivorman ep.) where he talked about urban/suburban survival during a flood. More urban stuff might be interesting. Surviving in Manhattan during a major blackout when you are a commuter, no ATMs, no trains, no stores/shops/restaurants open due to no power, etc. I would find that a nice change of pace. Use some military base MOUT village for a possible location.

How about an episode surviving in a Walmart?

LOL

Or homeless and on the street (harder than it sounds)

:p

Thanks for the info! I loved the first season "Behind the Scenes." Makes me really appreciate all he does to bring us Survivorman.

they have done pretty much every environment I can think of.
There are still plenty of options left. Re-use an area and practice different skills. You never run out of "how to make primitive tools", "how to make cordage", "how to improvise", or "useful plant" options. And lets not forget a skill that neither Discovery Channel commando practices, "how to signal!"

I'd like to see episodes about the arctic tundra in summer, autumn temperate forest (maybe Maine or Michigan), boreal forest in summer, and the Gobi desert.
