Surviors! Off Topic & Nonsense talk thread!

Gator would make a badass sheath for my S!Ks, a sick quiver too!

I've got a buddy that lives in FL. He wants me to come down for gator. I applied last year but wasn't successful. This year I just can't swing it with my building and everything else going on.

I was looking up some YT videos on the Blade Show 2016. Lots of crap as usual (not prepared to mention names as it is purely subjective and also do not wish to start a false out) but something I just have to mention at the expense of defeating my own statement in the parenthesis:

Why or why for farg's sake did LTWK do a collaboration with the PreparedMind101 guy (Chris Tanner?). OK, the question is rhetorical but TBT, I'd buy a collaborative knife made with Tactical any day over PM101. Off my soapbox now :)

I'm guessing LT has a thing for weird dudes that wear eyeliner, have lame haircuts and aren't capable of doing proper reviews of knives. His carpet test with the ESEE 6 was the biggest joke of his career.

Haven't seen his carpet cutting test with the ESEE but I had often wondered as to what was the chip on his shoulder which compelled him to come across as so angry and p*ssed off all the time on camera. Then he made the crucial mistake of taking pics and videos with some people next to him and it was only then when I had my Archimedes moment! Eureka! PM101 is only like 5'2"!!!

I honestly liked his channel a few years ago. He just seemed like a guy who enjoyed using knives and specifically knives that were "budget" yet quality production brands. I do love how we all got here from different routes and where some of us came from Benchmades and Busses, I started with Kabars and Schrades and Kershaws. He was into that kind of stuff and had a dry sense of humor I liked. Now that he's a "youtube celebrity and knife designer" with over 100,000 subscribers he does always seem pissed. Maybe because nobody gets how amazing he is and nobody thinks outside the box like he does??? Him teaming up with Schrade with his first design didn't surprise me. LT Wright? That surprised me. I didn't mind when he named one knife, but basing his "brand" and all knife models on that doesn't appeal to me. And his videos are too long for my taste. If you can't explain and review a knife or flashlight in 10 or 15 minutes, you're probably rambling or going off of weird tangents.

It was his "Extreme knife edge testing" video. He can't even hide the fact that he's biased towards Schrade and Becker knives.

You are correct on all points Sir Silver. Things seem have gone to his head. I can say with certainty and at least 90% of us started out on our knife hobby and quest, by venturing into the cheaper steel first.

On a slightly different note, I'll pay really good money to watch Chris of PM101 vs Mike from MCQ Bushcraft in a back country survival death match :D

Haha! Bushcraft cage fight :D
Things have definitely gone to his head...
Maybe we'll get to see the true master work his survival voodoo as I heard he plans to audition for a future season of Alone!

Interesting to see individual's knife journeys. It seems like a lot of people csme here already being accustomed to spending $200 or $300 on a single knife. Back in the day paying more than $50 seemed absurd to me. I'm so glad I wised up!

I sincerely hope that you mean Mike and not Chris to be auditioning for Alone!

I've heard nothing but good stuff about the Jessmuk, I did think it strange that LTKW would associate with PM101 though. Battle Horse has done a run of knives collaborating with Chris Caine that look remarkably similar, I've got one of the smaller flat ground models and I like it so far.

You're right. I have not heard completely mixed reviews about the LTWK creation (I can't take the Jessmuk name seriously enough to say it even though I just did...) compared to the Schrade produced concoction. And hey a guy on Alone chose the LTWK as his blade for the show. Personally I like to have a length of flat edge on my blades so the design doesn't appeal to me... but that's just my own preference.

I think Larry Roberts (Alone-S2) carries LTWK. Speaking om PM101, he's got this video on what he carries on him when "out in the woods". I think that he's packing like 20 lbs alone in blades and firearm! It's really funny, specially some of the viewer comments which is often the funnest part of enduring through his sage advise. I'll try to find that video on YT for later on :D
