Survival airgun

I think still its a lot easier to hunt with an air gun versus a slingshot, to get a rabbit at 30 yard with a slingshot seems a tough thing, but its done easy with a halfway powerfull rifle.

This is true.
But suppose you lose or run out of ammo?
The the air-gun is vitually useless, but as long as you have a small rock, you have ammo for the sling-shot!

Split the ammo and store it in different pockets. Pellets take so little space that it would be easy to stash 1000 or more. That would help feeding you for a long time. If you think long term survival by you own(which is the most unlikely case imho)use the time you have ammo to get profficient in alternative ways to hunt,.Trapping or Bow/atlatl and the davidian typ sling comes to my mind. (no, I don`t have any skills in these but a little bow shooting) I am convinced that a good knowledge and gathering of eatable plants and small animal(insects:barf: )would be more usefull than hunting. I`d like to learn about trapping, but where I live it is highly unlegal, with few exeptions. Under some circumstances it could be even a loss of energy to go out hunting. Gathering, trapping and fishing are much more energyefficient. To have a gun -whatever kind it is in a survival situation- for me only means, for the case you have a sudden opportunity to make some meat you can do it. Hunt if you have enough supplies or time.Otherwise try to get your butt back into zivilisation or get together with other people to team up.In some environments(artic) I guess a pellet rifle would be as usefull as a porcupine for wiping your butt. For an only all round weapon I would almost always prefer a shotgun- but for the case there are no dangerous animals around I´d take a .22 rifle.
