I've been playing with a BRKT Bravo 1 and am very impressed. I don't get the knife as a chopper thing, but to each his own. For my purposes, I'd much rather carry a light folding saw for cutting wood to length. The Bravo 1 does quite well in the batoning category (though it is not a particularly long knife). The convex blade profile takes a reasonably fine edge and holds it very well. I've used it for processing wood for fires and then cut tomatoes into very thin slices-a feat which impressed me, given the rather thick blade.
It's another option.
