Survival Capsules and such.

Probably about to shoot myself in the foot here but I saw these tubes and thought 'I could do something here'. Looking at the TAD Gear stuff the basic form is a threaded aluminum tube with end caps. So I did some rooting about and thought why not just buy a length of threaded aluminum tube and some O-rings, super glue and a few bolts?

This place does the tubes in a few diameters. The rest of the stuff I reckon you could get from your local hardware store.

I'll be having a go over the next month, by the time I have stuff shipped to the UK and source the correct sized bolts. I'm not guaranteeing the same level of sex appeal as the TAD stuff but I reckon mine will be far more bomb proof.

OK, so I made this trade with a dude. I gots me a Fenix E20 and Fenix E01. 2 - AA and 1 - AAA, respectively. Uh, they are AWESOME flashlights!

I received the TAD Gear Life Capsule "IMPACT" Model. It's very well made, TAD doesn't sell garbage, that's for sure. I would question the money these things go for but that's up to the individual...isn't it always?

It has a strike bezel on the bottom and a smooth cap on the top with the pocket clip on that cap. Both caps are drilled for neck lanyards or dummy cords, etc. The topside of it is custom machined to fit the NATO Peyser Brass Button Compass, as are the older two (different) TAD Gear Life Capsules I have.

The area under the compass section has a Tritium capsule and multiple holes are milled around that area so you can see the thing in the dark...or if you drop it...you can find it, etc.

Overall, the cool factor is high but when you think of the hardcore gear you can get for the money, the cool factor diminishes rapidly.

That's a decent review:thumbup:, Thanks. I have wanted one of the IMPACT models, but they are no more and way expensive as you noted.

I'll take pics of it this weekend and put them in this thread along with the older models which were much more simple.

Your average (and good) hollow handled knife is going to have more storage space although I would say that the CRK small FBs have about the same as these capsules. I mean, these are basically very well machined and highly over-glorified match safes.
