Edge,

Greg Davenport, my co-moderator on this forum and a former instrcutor for the US Air Force survival school, has written what I consider one of the best all-around books on the subject: "Wilderness Survival." It is superbly written, and it teaches you the concepts you'll need to know in order to survive in any situation, including prioritizing of your needs. The key to survival is not just techniques, but knowing what techniques to apply at the most crucial times, and how to improvise in a pinch and think creatively. Greg's book teaches you to do just that.

You can order it from his website at http://www.ssurvival.com

Best,

Brian.

Larry Dean Olsens OUTDOOR SURVIVAL SKILLS

Mors Kochansky NORTHERN BUSHCRAFT

I use these two to teach a high school survival class.

Outdoor Survival Handook (I think that's the name) by Ray Mears.
Living in the UK I find that this is more of an "appropriate" book for my area.
He is writinga new book whichisout in November. For more info go to www.raymears.com

About video tapes and VCRs:
Most current models of VCRs are by default "multi system" and play "american" tapes as well, although most of them do not advertise it. A friend of mine told me to try a supposedly different (american) system videotape in my european system VCR, and sure enough, it worked perfectly.

Thats one hell of a good tip Costa, i hope it works!!!!!!!!!!
