I have folders but what Im missing is a nice fixed blade. I need a knife that is insanely tough and could be used for survival purposes if needed. As for size Id like to have a sort of bushcraft style knife that could fit in a pack if needed. $200 is the limit.

Well, you could take a look at the RAT line of Ontario knives--I've got a RAT - 5 and it's pretty sturdy. There's also Grohmanns or the SERE operator, which are fine knives but may lack heft. Oh yeah, the CRK Inyoni looks pretty nice, affordable too. I have no personal experience with it. Yet.

Djolney got it before me but if you are on a budget you could check out the Scrapyard knives or the Beckers.

I second Swamprat M6, for that price range you can't do any better. Love my M6 rides on my side every outting.

Fallkniven F1. It's the issue survival knife of the Swedish Air Force.

If you need anything bigger, you need a hatchet.

These are just a few of my favorites

I would look into the

swamp rat m6

scrapyard scrapper 6 (I have had one for a couple of months now and it has become my favorite fixed blade.)

the Ontario rat knives are good as well

as are Ranger knives RD6 - RD9.

I would say the Dogfather, 139 I believe and its tough as all get out. It would be tuff to find a comparable knife at that price, SR-77 steel.

I gotta recommend Ranger Knives. The Dog Father sold out, otherwise I would highly recomend it, or any Scrap Yard Knife for that matter.

TKC said it well.. go for a custom RD-4... when it's slimmed to 3/16 it's quite a performer.

Add another one for Justin at Ranger knives. May I suggest an RD6? :D Mine should be here Monday, with orange handles.

I like the RAT-3 in 1095 or D2. The Benchmade Ritter Fixed blade would also be a good choice and all of these will come in under your price range

Have you looked at the straight blades from HI? The Kumar Karda is plenty stout. Or maybe the YCS Karda.

2. Swamp Rat Howling Rat

3. Ranger RD-4

4. If you can find one, the Becker BK10 is pretty nice too.

I've never handled one, but you might also want to look at teh Bark River Aurora.
