Survival hats

I am on my third Tilley T3 cotton hat. That is where the good warranty comes in. I bought one years ago, wore a hole in the crown, went to the tilley store,no questions, they just give you a new one.
I also like the hemp hat,it feels lighter and cooler.
the cotton one can be soaked in water and put back on your head, instant AC.
You should see the warranty on their wool walking socks. I am never buying socks again

I've grown up in the skin cancer capitol of the world so I know a thing or two about hats by crikey:D

I've mentioned these in a couple of other recent hat threads but I have to again here because I can't recommend them highly enough. I've spent a lot of time out bush in all sorts of heat and while a broad brimmed hat works well (Tilley's, Akubras and my favourite kangaroo leather broad brim) - when the going get's tough and you start putting out some energy and heat, or converselly on those freezing desert mornings when you need some warmth around your neck, or in the skin-blistering hot wind; these hats excell.

They may not be sartorially elegant - but they do have a kind of lawrence of arabia rakish charm...and they are flat out the most versatile and effective head gear I've com across.
