Actual reality already, as I have seen it sold by Campmor. Standard survival blankets (silver and red sides) with printed instructions on it. As crazy it sounds, it might be a good idea for knots, signals, Morse code and plant identification (seems to be difficult to remember things). It might be less useful if shelter needs to be disassembled to identify dinner...

T-shirts, bandanas, ponchos are other targets. How about some permanent tattoos???
(Actually, during WWII, some troops applied blood type and ID# tattooes in armpit.)

Best,

HM

Not a bad idea!

One could also do something like pilots in past wars, with the silk MAPS sewn in the lining of their flight jackets.

Maybe having some of the pertinent info printed on bandannas or liners for clothing...

This could lead to possibilities...Maybe another million dollar idea!

You use what you have on you, then you improvise! :)

Tattooing vital information on your body has been and still is being done today in the Military. Instead of wearing dog tags, some military personnel opt to get what are referred to as meat tags. All the info of a dog tag (name, ssn, blood type, gas mask size, branch, and religion-so they know how to bury you) right below the armpit and on the right ankle-Marines have been trained to step off with the left foot first, therefore putting info on left would negate purpose if one were to step on a land mine/boobytrap.

I believe the boy scouts have a knot handkerchief, and I've also seen a first aid one, though I do not know if it is a BSA product or not.

As far as meat tags, they may be a nifty thing to show yer drinking buddies, but the medics still want that second of the two dog tags to take with them when you die, I doubt they'd lop off a foot and take it back so they can notify your relatives...
