Survival Key Chain

keychain with keys and a bottle opener key, and an edc chain with whistle, tweezers, little light, p38 ...

I was browsing for another way to organize my keys and stuff and thought about a few s-biners, and hit on the nite ize key-rack, which to me makes a little more sense than a regular large s-biner with some small ones.

intresting. expensive? heavy?

Mine has keys on it.

Brilliant! but a little borng try:

Mine has control tool for: tactical survival bug out vehicle and every day use survival retreat on it.

there fixed that for ya:D

intresting. expensive? heavy?

considering the price of the small s-biners, the 3-5 bucks for a main biner + 6 size 0 s-biners is good

the plastic s-biners are pretty light, I'm more worried about bulk, I'll find that out, ordered one.

It may take a while until it is here - international shipping takes a while.

added a whistle with a red led like this one
Whistle-LED-Light-w--Key-Chain-SZ136476.jpg

for a generic plastic whistle it very loud and the red led is cool for night vision
got it at a garage sale for 10 cents(and a camel back pack with bladder for one dollar....score!)
new they come in lots of like 250 and charge extra for the logo
mabey someone could get some blade forum logo one made and sell them
ill buy five at 2 2.50 apiece

NiteIze KeyRack came in today.

Smaller than I thought, and very very light. I try to find some scales that are precise enough for it and toss it on - hope to post with pics later, but today's hubbys birthday, so I gonna go get the cakes done ...

edit: my smaller kitchen scales did it:
16.05 g

it looks great
let me know what you think after youve carried for a week please

My key setup includes a heavy brass spring loaded hook, a Victorinox Mini-Champ with the red slabs removed to make its profile thinner, Uncle Bill's Silver Gripper tweezers, Alpha Innovations aluminum whistle, handcuff key, Swiss Tech Utili-Key, Photon Micro Light, small carabiner for easy removal of items, such as my car keys for valet, or my Alpha Innovations "Kubaton".

I want to add some sort of fire starting item, as soon as I find something small enough to not add too much bulk.

I can't stand a giant wad of keys. When I carry EDC goodies on a separate ring, it looks like this:

I know what you mean, I like having them handy and on a ring...just not the same ring. The only thing that stays on my actual key ring is a nanostriker and an extra key thats kinda sharp and sort of pointy...I've thought about hardening it.

I still like it, carry it inside a key pouch mostly, or hooked into the paracord loops I've sewn in some of my pockets.

As all things it does have it's downsides ... I found myself wanting more S-Biners of all sizes ...

The Maglite Solitaire Single 1-Cell AAA Flashlight is a handy little flashlight to hang off a keyring.

Usually a SAK farmer, or more recently my OHT, with Fenix E01, REI whistle, and firesteel.

This stays in my pocket for EDC and during day hikes or backpacking, and the Becker rides on my hip or in the pack with some redundant gear for layering:

Think geek has the KeyTool Keyring Multi-tool back in stock, was going to grab one but shipping is almost the price of the tool, youch.

Which fire steel is this? I'm guessing the tube pup by the size next to the E01? I'm needing a keychain fire steel and this looks perfect.

Nothing fancy. I'm in more in need of an urban survival set up. So no trip wire or signal mirrors for me. I am in the market for a good fire steel and paracord braid section though.

E01 seems to be popular. My knife of choice is a Gerber SLT 2.0. No cool points for it but is thin, lightweight, sharp, and cheap. Keychain knives for me don't last too long so I went this way ($13). I am a bit surprised to not see more writing utensils. Sharpie mini is a must for me. Cheapo carabiner to hook to belt loop. Wife has E01 and same knife on her keychain too.

sweet. i recently added a capsule oil lighter and i like it. i got the generic, not the peanut or titanium version.

thanks keep us posted on long term use.

i have one but its just not up to par to the new leds. i bought a blackcat from dealextreme and it is just about the same size but 30 tims brighter for about 2 times the price.

considered a tac pen but dont have the funds at this time.
i like the knife and im considering a crkt peck for the same use.
the E01 im considering for purchase, as i mentioned the blackcat is sweet.
also the nano light is very bright and small the only drawback is the replacement batteries.
