Hi All,

in the last couple of weeks I travelled more or less a few times around the Globe. Since Easter, I was one month in the Philippines, three weeks in my homeland Germany and three times for weeks in the USA.

I always have a basic survival kit in my flight case, but due to the restrictive regulations, it is not that easy to be prepared, even more, when it comes to the items you can take with you in the cabin.

Especially the fire starting items are hard to transport. No BIC lighters and matches are allowed to be in the flight case and of course also not in the cabin.

I have at the moment a DOAN Magnesium fire starter and a Light My Fire Army ferrorod in my flight case. Until now, nobody was concerned about this.

What are you all taking with you in the flight case and in the cabin?

Best regards,

tuxtex

Yes, and the rules keep changing.
I have not taken a flight lately, but I Googled on: TSA carryon
and I found some info. Other countries and individual TSA employees may vary.

:thumbup:Bic type lighters are allowed in the cabin (your front pocket) as are paper safety matches.
Neither of these are allowed in your luggage.

:thumbdn:Torch lighters, create a thin, needle-like flame that is hotter (reaching 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit)
and more intense than those from common lighters,
continue to be banned anywhere on the plane.

Why not take a bic and book matches in your pockets and if they confiscate them,
you have lost nothing. Take a pack of cigarettes or a cigar also.

Wow! That´s worth a try! As a non smoker to buy cigarettes is somehow strange, but might avoid certain questions why I need a lighter.
