I thought I'd take you some pics of my MOD4 Survival Knife in the woods. This is the only time I have taken this knife as I use it all the time at home for battoning sticks for my stove but find it a little over-kill for carrying when hiking !

These knives are built like tanks and can take everything you can throw at them !!!

Here is a pic of it with some Rattlesnake Plantain which can be used as a bandaid while out in the wilds !!!!

Just thought I'd add a pic of this as well, it's Licorice Fern and it's roots can be eaten raw to ease sore throats or made into a tea along with Fir Needles and berry leaves etc !!!

I used to love looking at that knife in the catalogs and wondering what I would ever use one for, a warclub? It really is a nice, straight-forward design, though. What kind of steel, do you know?

Beautiful pictures ...

I was just eyeing one of those yesterday while at the SMKW which I stop at whenever in TENN..I thought they looked good, but had never heard anything...I bought some of those Brazilian machetes by the way..$6.00!!! apiece so I bought 3. Sorry, back to your knife... Well, is it as much money as they had on it in TENN...IIRC it was priced $189.99?? This didn't look right, so I passed...but it looks like one mean mother! thanks for the great pics.

I think you will be very happy with your new Tramontina machetes. I have four of them, wooden handled ones in 12", 14" bolo and 18" and a 22" plastic handled one. When I got them they were relatively sharp, but after some work with a file and some sand paper, I started to reprofile the blade and they are now shaving sharp. I couldn't be happier with them and other people that have used them have also been impressed.

Wow that sounds expensive bro ! I think I paid about $50-$60 for mine but that was about 20 years ago !!!

Nice pics Pitdog,I always liked the looks of that knife, just a plain and simple rugged lookin knife.

Yeah that's the latest incarnation of it and the one that was featured in a recent issue of tacticalknives mag. That one is a sabre grind where as mine is a convex but I'd guess that it is still as indestructable !!!

Here is another pic that I took yesterday but did not include as it did not come out too good. It is a pic of the Snowberry bush and just thought I'd show it as the berries can be squeezed onto the skin and act as a natural Polysporin !!!
