Lets say one day you find yourself stranded out in the middle of nowhere for whatever reason, what one survival knife would you want out there with you?
Id say I would want either my SOG SEAL pup elite, or a Tops hawks hellion survivor.

Note: since there's been some posts saying "you should actually be asking X Y or Z because this that and the other." In going to say this, based on the survival situation that you (and you alone) are most likely to find yourself in, what knife would you want? This does not mean you will only have a knife, it means you get to pick which one that goes with you.

What makes you think
you will have the knife you want? Did you know you were going into a survival situation? If you did why did you keep going?
My point is it is likely you will be stuck with less then ideal gear.
What I would want depending on conditions and local is my BK4. What I would most likely have is my BK11 or something smaller.

When I go, as the OP specifies, into the "middle of nowhere," I have my best all-round survival woods tools.

Were I limited to a knife, it would be the knife I thought best for survival in that slice of "nowhere," not my EDC.

Preferably I would like to have either my Condor Final Frontier or my modified Condor Bushlore.

Realistically I would probably only have my Emerson CQC-10 and a JK tin knife on me.

Ah, the knife I would need for Erewhon or Over the Range

Any cutting device you have with you at that time, preferably something you are too familiar with.
Having said that, i will prefer something big @ 20".

I've come across a few threads like this and I've a question. If your silly enough to lose all your equipment what makes you think your not silly enough to not lose your knife? Really, everyone wants the knife that'll get them through when all else is lost when actually when all gets lost no magic woods fairy will bring your knife to you.You lose everything, now what do you do.

I think a more interesting question is what knife do you take on your backcountry travels?

Most of my kit is oriented towards staying alive. Survival rain jacket. Survival sleeping bag. Survival knife.

In this vein, the adjective "survival" is redundant. Better to just think about rain gear, sleeping bag, knife, etc..

For me, mostly an Opinel #10 but sometimes a Mora Companion. If this sounds lightweight, then remember that the knife is a part of an overall system.

Lol, poor OP. Someone forgot to tell him you can't ask fun hypothetical questions on bladeforums anymore.

Its just a bit of hypothetical fun. I dont mean for anyone to take this completely serious. A simple thinking exercise, if you will.

Another interesting way to consider this question is to binge watch the History Channel's show "Alone". They put 10 guys with 10 "things" on Vancouver Island in the cold wet fall. Last one to tap out got 0.5 million.

The show quickly came down to 4 guys with strong skills. IMO, any one of them could have been called a winner as they all got out in the 40+ days range.

What was interesting to me was the range of knives used. One used a simple bushcrafter knife and did just fine. But then, the knife alone wasn't enough and from that we get that knife when used with other things need not be huge to be effective.

Anyway, it's a great show once you get past the first several episodes and the weaker contestants are weeded out.

A Mora Companion or Companion HD will do fine. Beyond this, it's personal preference or special adaptation to local conditions.

I get ornery now and then. Still, a woods fairy would be fun, especially if she's hot.

You point would be well-taken - except for the fact that the OP did not specify that he lost any equipment:
